Rick Owens launched his eponymous brand in Los Angeles in 1994, opening his first store on Hollywood Boulevard. In 2003, he moved to Paris, establishing his home and studio in a historic five-story building that was formerly the office of former French President Franco Mitterrand. His runway collections have been created in Paris ever since. He has expanded his original men's and women's labels and launched lines such as "RICK OWENS LILIES" and "DRKSHDW." In July 2005, he introduced a furniture collection based on Art Deco and brutal forms, using raw plywood, marble, and moose horns. The furniture collection has since been exhibited in galleries and museums such as the Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris, the Musée Pompidou, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles.
