SARTO , a group of clothing alteration specialists, operates under the motto "Good quality items last a long time," specializing in clothing remaking and repair. They have been featured for many years at the Made to Measure section on the 5th floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building they have gained considerable popularity. They offer a wide range of services, from simple repairs to complete remakes that create entirely new designs.

Our experience comes from disassembling and repairing all kinds of clothing, from top French fashion houses to hand-stitched suits from Naples. Furthermore, our staff actively gathers trend information by attending exhibitions held throughout Europe, so it is this deep understanding of trends and styles that enables us to perform repairs with such high precision.

Q1: [Repair] To what extent can holes caused by tears, etc., be repaired?

We can repair a variety of tears, from small holes less than 5mm in size caused by insects to rips up to 20cm long. The repair method will vary depending on the location and material of the tear.
For repairs prioritizing a clean finish, we offer darning (kakehagi), a highly skilled technique that involves reweaving the fabric by hand, at approximately 13,200 yen per centimeter. For machine repairs (machine stitching), which prioritize reinforcement and is also used for damaged jeans, we offer darning at approximately 3,300 yen per centimeter. We also handle tears in leather and knitwear.

Q2: [Resizing] I think this will change the silhouette. What items are most likely to change?

Pants are an item that is most prone to changes in silhouette.
When your weight fluctuates, the waist area of your pants (around the lower abdomen) is where changes in body shape are most likely to occur. Also, for people who regularly do strength training, changes in the chest and upper arms of their jackets are more common.
Typically, you can resize an image by 2-3 sizes when making it thinner, and by 1-2 sizes when making it larger.
If you require any further size changes, we can completely disassemble the garment and remake it.
At our tailor shop, we have craftsmen who can handle alterations in a single garment, making it possible to achieve this kind of resizing.
