This time, our adult field trip is "Searching for the Scent of Spring." Three members of the GUIDE crew visit the cosmetics section on the 1st floor Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building , where staff member Hamanaka will suggest fragrances that are "perfect" for each of their personalities.

Tsuchiya: "You can increase your likeability with scent."

Hamanaka : When I saw Tsuchiya-san, I felt a great sense of approachability. I chose two bottles that are both spring-like and have depth, keeping Tsuchiya-san's style in mind.

"Fresh x Floral Depth"

The first one I chose was a bottle that combined the refreshing coolness of citrus with a lingering floral finish.
The crisp top notes of grapefruit and Timt pepper (a fruity sansho pepper) are softly followed by osmanthus and peony. The fragrance starts fresh, and over time, a delicate floral sweetness emerges.


Tsuchiya : It's refreshing and absolutely wonderful. The citrus notes are very pleasant.

Hamanaka : The sweetness of peony gradually emerges in the back of your nose. A soft, spring-like quality remains.

Okada : It has a spring-like feel. It's light and airy, yet has depth. (This is just my personal opinion, but) I think this will definitely increase its likeability.

Next, Tsuchiya chose a transparent fragrance with floral notes as the main feature.

The fragrance of lilac, lily of the valley, and jasmine evokes the morning light of a Parisian park, offering a gentle floral aroma that lingers elegantly, distinct from the freshness of citrus.

Hamanaka : The floral nuances are clearly captured. It's easy to use and "beginner-friendly" so it won't come across as pretentious even in a professional setting.

Tsuchiya : It's different again. The floral notes are more prominent, and there's a touch of sexiness. It's soft without any spiciness. But it's good that it still retains a masculine feel.

Tashiro : It's great that you can express "approachability" through scent. That's something we'd like to have too (laughs).

Okada: "A touch of unexpectedness in a dandy style."

Hamanaka : Okada-san is sophisticated and dapper. I suggest two fragrances that express not only his refined taste but also a relaxed, unexpected flair.

KILIAN PARIS Her Majesty Eau de Parfum: "A sophisticated floral scent, a balance of freshness and richness."

Hamana, whose image of Okada is "calm and elegant," chose the new fragrance named "Her Majesty," which Kilian created after a perfumer visited Kyoto's Philosopher's Path and was inspired by the falling cherry blossom petals.

Sweet notes of white peach and ambrette seed are harmoniously blended with rose, creating a sophisticated transition from a refreshing opening to a deep, lingering finish.


Hamanaka : This fragrance has a balanced blend of elegant freshness and richness, typical of chypre-type fragrances.

Okada : In reality, it's deeper than the description suggests. It's not light, but medium in weight. It's not too masculine, and it has a lightness to it, so even someone my age can wear it without it sounding arrogant.

Tsuchiya : I can smell rose and peach. It's a nice scent that seems to increase likeability "without even trying."

MOLTON BROWN Labdanum Dusk Eau de Parfum
"Oud x spice, sharp and palatial depth"

Next, Okada chose a smoky, deep fragrance reminiscent of ancient Middle Eastern oud.
The sharp notes of saffron and cedar leaf are complemented by the gentle sweetness of labdanum, vanilla, and tonka bean, and finally, it's enveloped in a powdery finish.

Hamanaka : A sharp fragrance with depth but not too heavy, and a hint of spiciness. It starts crisp and finishes softly, designed to gently bring the impression together.

Okada : This is a different scent from the first one, and the range is enjoyable. It's a completely new sensation for a fragrance to wear. It's a scent I want to smell myself rather than for others.


Tashiro : It harmonizes well with Okada's calm demeanor; it has a presence but isn't overbearing, which is nice.

Okada : It's really nice to be chosen by other people. It broadens your horizons.

Tashiro: "Individuality is updated through scent."

Hamanaka : Tashiro-san is just as unique as he appears. He's unlike anyone else, and these two films further highlight his distinctive character, bringing out a "new self."

Liquid Imaginaire Arm de Fleurs

"A juicy sweetness and crispness that is imbued with a narrative."

For the unique Tashiro, Hamanaka chose the liquid Imaginaire "Arme de Fleurs," which has an impressive bottle design.

The brand's concept is to "capture imaginative stories in fragrance," and this particular scent is inspired by the anemone, a symbol of eternal love.
Rose crystal and tuberose are layered with heliotrope, and later saffron and cashmere wood tighten the flavor, resulting in a clean finish that isn't overly sweet.

Hamanaka : The narrative and evolving scent further enhance Tashiro's individuality.

Tashiro : It's sweet at first, but the subtle fragrance is really nice. The scent lingers lightly.

Okada : A fragrance that lets you embody the entire world of the brand. It's the kind of scent you wouldn't discover unless someone recommended it to you.

Tashiro : I also like how this bottle can be used as a base.

"Korean brand multi-layered spices"

For the second fragrance, Tashiro chose one that offers a "punchy curveball" experience, featuring a multi-layered design that unfolds from sweetness to smokiness to spiciness. The spiciness of saffron, cinnamon, and nutmeg is combined with the brightness of mandarin and bergamot, the sweetness of caramel and vanilla, and the smokiness of oud and cypriol, all coming together to create a refined and balanced scent.



Hamanaka : She has a lot of moves, but the ending is "perfectly synchronized." She has a powerful individuality.

Tashiro : It hits you right from the start. After the sweetness, it immediately mixes in a spicy kick that really packs a punch. It really hits your nose with its incredible aroma.

Tsuchiya : It seems like it could be chaotic, but in the end it all comes together nicely. It also has a chic, understated quality.

Tashiro : It's a fragrance that truly has "individuality." I'd like everyone to smell it in person at the store.

What fragrance will you choose to wear this spring?

"Spring is strongly associated with new beginnings, making it a great time to change your fragrance," says Manaka. At the store, the quickest way to find the perfect scent is to put into words the image you want to project. Even a simple statement like, "This might not suit me, but this is how I want to be," or a request like, "I'm looking for a fragrance like this," is perfectly fine.
