From a science-oriented rugby player to a sales position at a manufacturer, and then to a retail position.
To be honest, I had absolutely no interest in fashion when I was a student. I majored in programming at a science and engineering university and got a job in sales at a manufacturer. I think what drew me to the world of clothing was encountering the Ura-Harajuku street culture of the 90s. I started going to Harajuku, and after changing jobs to an apparel manufacturer, I became involved in events at Isetan Shinjuku, and through that connection, I was hired as a sales associate.I started out in business wear, and then spent nine years in Super Men's. I myself have been large for my age since childhood, participating in children's sumo wrestling and playing rugby in high school. Because I understand the clothing concerns of larger customers, I often assist large-bodied clients, including professional athletes, even after moving to Men's Attendant . I can talk about everything from clothing concerns to sports, and as you might guess from my physique, I'm also very knowledgeable about food (laughs). Lately, I've been assisting more first-time customers and elderly clients.
I think I'm a laid-back type, both physically and in personality. That might be why my customer service makes customers feel at ease. I think customers can shop more comfortably with someone like me than with a younger, more stylish attendant. I can guide you through the entire Isetan Shinjuku store, from fashion and cosmetics to food, interior goods, and miscellaneous items, so I think it makes shopping more efficient.
To make customer service more persuasive, I acquired many qualifications.
These days, you can easily buy anything with your smartphone. That's precisely why I value human connection and strive to provide customer service that can only be experienced face-to-face. The most important thing is for our customers to have a good time. Even if they don't buy anything that day, I want to provide them with an experience that makes them think, "I had a great time at Isetan today." I believe that's the meaning behind my role as their attendant.
I've acquired several certifications since turning 40. These include a Customer Service and Sales Technician certification, and a Junior Skeletal Style Advisor certification. My goal is to provide better customer service and accurately suggest styles that suit each client. As I get older, my memory is struggling, but I know I must continue learning every day. Currently, I'm working towards a Color Analyst certification.
At Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building , we offer skeletal style analysis® and personal color diagnosis as paid services, and these are very popular. I'm happy when customers who receive these diagnoses discover new styling options or realize that certain colors suit them, and I want them to know that choosing clothes can be more free and fun. I see my job as guiding them to that starting point.
We want to deliver clothes that "suit" you, not just "fit" you.
Like my younger self, for larger people, choosing clothes starts with finding something that "fits." But I want to help people find clothes that "suit them." Ever since I was in charge of Super Men's, I've never wanted people to give up on being fashionable because of their size. I want people to know that there are clothes that fit perfectly even for larger people, and that they can look smart in them.
For example, the Joseph Abboud I'm wearing today. It's a New York brand founded by a former Ralph Lauren director, and they have collections that suit larger body types, so I wear it regularly.
Pants: ¥26,400 (Regular size) / ¥29,700 (Super Men's size)
T-shirt: ¥14,300 (Regular size) / ¥17,600 (Super Men's size)

This suit is made of a material that conforms to the body and is easy to move in, but it also has a well-shaped waist and the pants have a beautiful silhouette. Even with my body type, it looks neat and tidy. When you pull out the pocket lining, it looks like you're wearing a pocket square, so it can be used for everything from business to dressy occasions, and it even comes in super men's sizes. It's a brand that not only has sizes, but also one that truly "suits" you.
Size specifications vary by manufacturer, so even the same XL can often feel different. We can't give you accurate advice without understanding the sizing and fit of each brand. That's where you can rely on us. When we introduced Joseph Abboud clothing to a customer, she once cried, saying, "I looked smart for the first time in my life!" We especially encourage larger individuals to try it at least once.
Work and play with full power. And life is all about being "oversized"!
When I'm working in the store, I usually wear a suit or jacket, but on my days off, I'm all casual. I think it gives a completely different impression. I often go to the ocean for surfing and diving, so I also like West Coast street style.
My motto is to fully enjoy both work and play, fashion and lifestyle. I surf twice a month and go diving to southern islands twice a year. Lately, I've been going to Okinawa a lot. This summer, I'm planning to go to Miyako Island, where my favorite diving shop is located.
Miyazaki's genuine desire to ensure every customer fully enjoys their Isetan experience is evident, and her enthusiastic customer service, which leverages her unique personality, has earned her the support of a wide range of customers. She may also be able to provide on-the-day assistance, so if you want to fully enjoy your visit to Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building , please feel free to contact her.
