I've held positions as a buyer for local stores and private brands, and as a sales manager before assuming my current role. Gaziano & Girling delivers a level of comfort close to bespoke shoes in ready-to-wear footwear.

Tabata Gaziano & Girling is a young brand established in 2006, and is a rising force in Northampton, the mecca of shoemaking. I visited Gaziano & Girling's factory at the same time as Edward Green, and I was impressed to see that the new factory had some old machines, of which there are only one or two in the world, and that there were many young craftsmen who seemed to be enjoying their work.
Fukuda: I also visited the factory with Tabata, and I felt the potential for British shoes in the future. I felt that their high standards, aiming for a fit close to bespoke with ready-made shoes, and the significant role played by "individual technical skill" were impressive.



Tabata is, so to speak, the only maverick and revolutionary in British shoemaking, pursuing the still-unfinished Northern Bouton shoe. I strongly felt his mission to "utilize the best aspects of British-made Goodyear welt construction while creating a silhouette, visual beauty, and elegant atmosphere reminiscent of Italian shoes that existing manufacturers have been unable to achieve."


It's been about a year since we started carrying Gaziano & Girling ready-to-wear shoes at Saito ISETAN MEN'S store, and we now have a lineup of about 20 different styles. People who love British shoes often "fall in love with the look, try them on, and become fans."
Tashiro's shoes have a beautiful silhouette, and the colors are lovely and unique; it's a British shoe brand that young people can appreciate based on their sensibilities.
Before actually seeing the Tabata factory, I wondered how they could develop the "technical skill to narrow it down to the absolute minimum and then stick it perfectly in place," but seeing the combination of their use of old machinery and the skilled handiwork of the craftsmen convinced me.
It's clear that they've put a lot of effort into recreating Saito 's final look and maintaining an elegant atmosphere, which makes it feel very modern.



The most distinctive feature of Fukuda Gaziano & Girling is that they mainly focus on bespoke and MTO (made-to-order) shoes, and their flexibility in shoemaking allows them to try new things.
Mr. Tashiro Fukuda's observation is spot on. Other Northampton shoemakers tend to focus on classic designs, so in that sense, Gaziano & Girling's shoemaking is quite punk.
With its sharply finished edges and accurate reproduction of asymmetrical lasts, this new brand exudes a sense of innovation, so please keep an eye on it.
