This past June, the 110th "PITTI IMMAGINE UOMO" was held in Florence, Italy. At the venue, attendees could check out the trends for the next season proposed by each brand, and buyers also purchased and commissioned valuable brands and items for customers of Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building . This time, we will introduce some of the must-have items for this autumn that buyer Narihiro Fukushima has carefully selected.

Towards the forefront of global men's fashion

Pitti Immagine Uomo is a leading exhibition in men's fashion trends. Every year, buyers and media representatives from all over the world gather there, and ISETAN MEN'S also makes sure to attend. The venue is the historic Fortezza da Basso in Florence. This international exhibition hall, which utilizes a former military fortress, attracts approximately 14,000 visitors from more than 90 countries over four days. It is a men's fashion trade fair where notable brands from all over the world gather, from classic brands to casual wear, leather goods, and accessories. An installation based on the theme of each event appears in the central courtyard of the venue.

This year's theme was "THE PITTI POOL." A giant pipe sculpture by designer Filio Landuschi and artist Pascal Hashem was installed, and the event garnered attention for its presentation that shed light on infrastructure and systems that are usually hidden from view.
"The Pitti Pool" is not just a typical summer pool; its theme is "reflection," about confronting one's own reflection on the water's surface. It expresses introspection, self-transformation, and the intersection of the present and the future, and it feels like a symbol of men's fashion moving in a new direction.

"This was my first Pitti Uomo since taking on the role of buyer for Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building . I was filled with anticipation, but I was surprised by the heat, which was over 30°C, which is unusual for June (laughs). I wandered around looking for shade, and I'll never forget how delicious the cold coffee I drank at the venue was. Now, let me introduce some of the brands that caught my eye."

Fukushima's first stop was the popular bag brand Felisi . Starting in 1973 from a small leather workshop in Ferrara, the brand now has a booth on the second floor of Pitti Uomo, where many popular brands gather.

"In Japan, Felisi is strongly associated with briefcases combining nylon and Italian leather, but in recent years, they have also expanded their range to include lightweight bags made with soft leather. Particularly popular are their lightweight totes made with supple shrink leather. In addition to a wide range of colors, they offer combination colors that switch between the interior and exterior, showcasing their distinctly Italian sensibility every season."

Final checks on the one-shoulder bag that will be available for pre-sale at the Pitti event scheduled for September.
"This vertical-shaped bag features a buffalo-embossed vachetta leather body and an adjustable strap, allowing it to be carried by hand or over the shoulder."

During the business negotiation, a Felisi staff member approached me and said, "There's something I'd really like you to see."

What was brought out from the back room was a briefcase primarily made of leather, with only the side gussets made of a different material. It was the "1756" model, which inherits the design of the brand's masterpiece "9884" but is not available in Japan.

"This is a very interesting design that reverses the relationship between Felisi's signature vachetta leather and nylon. Only a small number were sold at the Ferrara shop, and there was one light brown x navy and one black x dark gray left."

"This is a Bordeaux x Black model of the briefcase I introduced earlier, with the gusset made of cotton linen. We still had some left, so we negotiated on the spot and were able to sell it at the Pitti Uomo event in September. Along with the leather x nylon briefcase, there are only three of these models in total, and they are not available in Japan."

Thus, in addition to the one-shoulder bag that will be exclusively available at Isetan, Felisi will be releasing three combination briefs not yet available in Japan in September. Encountering samples and rare models that can only be found at Pitti Uomo is one of its unique features. It seems that new encounters await us at the next brand we visit.
