"With Nature With Family."

A selection of exquisite items that evoke a sense of nature.

Spend a special time connecting with nature, together with your loved ones. Amidst the heightened interest in mental and physical health and well-being following the COVID-19 pandemic, more and more people are turning their attention to nature.
In this era, with the hope of contributing to a richer lifestyle, we planned this event to allow families, friends, and partners to enjoy connecting with nature.

Based on three concepts—"Enjoying nature," "Experiencing masterpieces born from nature," and "Cherishing things and passing them down for generations"—this collection brings together products and works from brands and artists who are deeply connected to nature.

The exhibitors are five groups: Snow Peak, an outdoor brand; TUGUCA, a new product from the outdoor brand; IHNN, an up-and-coming fashion brand; Tomonari Hashimoto, a young ceramic artist who has been receiving high praise in recent years; diorama, a gallery at the foot of the Yatsugatake Mountains that handles art and objects from Japan and abroad; and Shoji Morinaga, a woodworker who presents works using woodturning.

At this pop-up event, Snow Peak will be introducing "Tsuguka," the brand's first furniture series. It's a set of pillars and beams that "creates space," and its characteristic feature is that you can create your desired space within a room by combining them in different ways. This is an idea that is uniquely Snow Peak's, which has been creating products to realize comfortable living spaces in the outdoors.

The series offers three standard sets: a wall set with two pillars designed for display or partition use, a corner set with three pillars to create two separate spaces in the corner of a room, and a square set with four pillars suitable for larger spaces such as workspaces or counters, offering a greater sense of privacy. Three colors are available. A wide variety of optional parts, such as racks and trays, are also available, allowing for diverse uses in line with the concept of "furniture for living life your way." Another great feature is that it can be easily assembled without tools.

The wood used is domestically produced cypress, and each component is made with a focus on natural materials. Not only are the materials carefully selected, but the design also allows for easy layout changes to accommodate changing lifestyles. The company aims to contribute to sustainability by creating products that can be used for many years, passed down through generations within families.
In addition to Tsuguka products, this pop-up event will also feature the display and sale of outdoor gear and apparel items.

2. Gallery "diorama"

Original art that leaves a lasting impression.

"Diorama" is a gallery that stocks original art that leaves a lasting impression. The owner says, "I've always enjoyed taking discarded raw materials and transforming them into something new, or turning them into other works of art," and sells items that have stirred his own emotions.

The pop-up shop will feature unique works created from nature, such as wood, metal, and glass. Original diorama products, including chairs and tables, will also be available for purchase.

"Now that online stores are the mainstream, we face the challenge of not being able to convey the details of our products. That's why I think it's important for people to actually see and touch the products. Objects give us all sorts of ideas and insights. I hope we can provide items that people will cherish," he commented.

While IN has previously focused on women's items, this pop-up store will feature their first-ever menswear collection.
This pop-up store will feature cardigans and shirts specially made for Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building .

The cardigan is made from woven fabric, finished with a knitting technique to create a unique texture. It is also reversible. The shirt comes in three colors: white, brown, and navy, and is made from a high-quality, high-density cotton-silk blend. The stripe design incorporates the brand's cherished concept of "connecting and linking people."

The brand has also drawn inspiration from ceramic artist Tomonari Hashimoto, who will be exhibiting at this pop-up, and has collaborated with him in previous shows to display his work. Regarding this event, the brand commented, "We hope you will enjoy the harmony between Mr. Hashimoto's work and the clothing of IN."

The underlying idea is that the garment should be modern and become a special piece that can be cherished and worn for years to come.

4. Ceramic artist Tomonari Hashimoto

Ceramic works that combine geometric forms with a unique sense of materiality.

*The image is for illustrative purposes only.

Tomonari Hashimoto is a ceramic artist who creates works with a unique presence and has gained recognition both in Japan and internationally. Raised by a sculptor father, he spent his childhood engrossed in plastic models and origami, while observing the nature around him every day. Hashimoto says of his own work, "I value the fluctuations that cannot be calculated with numbers, the presence and existence of objects, and the environment that surrounds them."

The tea bowls are made using the same techniques as Mr. Hashimoto's three-dimensional works, employing metal oxides for coloring and firing at low temperatures. Furthermore, the "burrs" that protrude from the plaster mold are deliberately left in place, offering a glimpse into the production process.

Hashimoto commented on the event, saying, "Ceramics are a material that allows you to directly feel its texture, color, and weight. For example, my works look different depending on how the light hits them. In this era where various worlds unfold within the palm of your hand and we are constantly stimulated, I would be happy if people would pay a little more attention to real-world objects. I hope that by actually seeing them, people will be able to feel the materiality and presence of the objects, as well as the environment surrounding the works."

I plan to be at the gallery from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Saturday, June 11th.

5. Shoji Morinaga, Woodturner

Crafts that embrace even "flaws" as part of the natural landscape.

*The image is for illustrative purposes only.

Shoji Morinaga is a woodworker born and raised in Kagoshima Prefecture. He creates various wooden works such as bowls, vases, and stools at his workshop and shop "crate," which opened in 2007. He also studied under the world-renowned American sculptor Alma Allen, and currently exhibits his work in solo and group exhibitions both in Japan and abroad.

"I'm not very interested in the kind of lumber you see in the market because it's too plain," says Morinaga, who uses locally felled trees purchased from chip factories or scraps of logs that are discarded at sawmills and lumberyards as materials.
The production process involves using a specialized woodturning machine to rotate the wood while simultaneously shaping it with blades and sandpaper.

Morinaga says, "I consider what to make while looking at the volume of the material, the grain, and the condition of the wood, so I take advantage of the blessings of the wood and incorporate naturally occurring cracks, knots, and other parts that are usually considered defects into the landscape. I feel that this approach is just right for me, and I continue to create every day."
