When you think of Jaeger-LeCoultre, you probably have a strong impression of it being a manufacture that, since its founding in 1833, handles every step of the process, from designing the calibers to manufacturing and assembling each collection, all by skilled craftsmen.

While Jaeger-LeCoultre is known for its refined watches such as the "Reverso" with its distinctive reversible case and the "Master," a slim watch with a simple, round form, this year we should also pay attention to their new models that retain a classic look while adding Jaeger-LeCoultre's unique interpretation to the "luxury sports watch" trend that has been popular in recent years.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Mariner Memovox is a new model that pays homage to Jaeger-LeCoultre's first diving watch. While diving watches are often associated with a thick, bulky image, this one is different. It truly deserves to be called a "luxury sports watch," combining a classic look suitable for business settings with the functionality to withstand active situations.

As a diving watch, it boasts a water resistance of 30 atmospheres. Typical of super-compressor type diving watches, it features a two-crown structure; the upper crown is used to operate the inner bezel and is screw-down to prevent unintended movement. An orange security band alerts the diver if the crown is not fully pushed in, ensuring high safety. The lower crown is used to set the time and date.

Another notable feature is the built-in alarm function. The Caliber 956, introduced in 2008, has been completely redesigned and incorporated into the watch. Unlike previous models with closed casebacks, this model features a transparent sapphire crystal caseback, allowing the wearer to see the hammer striking the alarm. This required a complete redesign of the striking mechanism and movement, and in this model, a gong is attached around the movement. An openworked tungsten rotor adds a sporty touch, and the movement of the striking mechanism and the delicate Côtes de Genève decoration on the movement's plates can also be seen.

The popular "School Bell" alarm sound, a key feature of the "Memobox," remains unchanged, ensuring satisfaction for long-time fans.

"Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Mariner Date"

Stainless steel case: 42mm diameter, approximately 70-hour power reserve, 30 ATM water resistance, automatic winding.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Mariner Date, like the Memovox, boasts 30 ATM water resistance and features an elapsed time display (seconds hand), a unidirectional rotating inner bezel, and an instantaneous jumping date display. The crown mechanism is the same as that of the Memovox.

The latest caliber movement boasts a power reserve of approximately 70 hours, making it ideal for those who wear it daily during the week but only occasionally on weekends. The sunray-finished dial beautifully reflects light, creating an intellectual and sophisticated atmosphere.

Jaeger-LeCoultre has masterfully blended elegance and sportiness, but some people may want to enjoy a thoroughly classic design. For those people, the classic model of the brand's iconic piece, the Reverso, is highly recommended.

"Reverso Classic Large Duo Small Seconds"
2,354,000 yen
18K rose gold case: 47mm (height) x 28.3mm (width), 3 ATM water resistance, manual winding.

Are you familiar with the story behind the creation of the "Reverso"? In the early 1930s, a British officer stationed in India requested the development of a wristwatch that could withstand the impacts of a polo match. To protect the dial from the impact of the stick, the case was designed to be flipped over, simultaneously retracting the dial and revealing the reverse side.

Since its inception, the Reverso has been loved by people of all genders who appreciate beauty. Sometimes it emphasizes femininity like a jewelry model, while other times its striking complexity and appearance exude masculinity, making it a highly androgynous design that can be welcomed as a timepiece partner by people of all ages and genders.

Beyond its practical functions (hour, minute, and second display), the Reverso Classic Large Duo Small Seconds is distinguished by its attractive small seconds subdial on the front dial and, as the name "Duo" suggests, the two time zones displayed on both the front and back dials.

Adhering to the famous golden ratio, this timepiece embodies the elegance of Art Deco style, a cornerstone and symbol of the collection. It expresses a new form of balanced beauty where form and function complement each other. The Reverso case is inspired by Art Deco features such as its elegant rectangular shape and refined gadroon decoration, maintaining a timeless and traditional design.

Since its founding, Jaeger-LeCoultre has produced over 1,200 calibers, building its reputation in the watch industry today. Its simple, classic appearance belies the incredible technology it incorporates. If you consider a "good watch" to be one that doesn't ostentatiously display its craftsmanship and passion, then you should definitely consider Jaeger-LeCoultre.
