Coffee with honey by Kentaro Maruyama

Honey might be a new gateway to understanding coffee.

Kentaro Maruyama
A coffee professional with strong connections to producers around the world. At Maruyama Coffee, they have built a brand based on the concept of "Discover Coffee = Encountering Coffee Bean Producers," where customers choose coffee based on the producer rather than the region or variety. They are also an international judge at international coffee competitions held in coffee-producing countries.

Kentaro Maruyama founded Maruyama Coffee, a coffee shop that roasts its own beans, in 1991. Initially, he focused on mastering roasting techniques, but after about 10 years of experience, he realized that true deliciousness is determined by the ingredients (quality). For 15 years, he has been visiting coffee-producing regions, and above all, what Maruyama values most is building trusting relationships with producers. To ensure that these good relationships continue indefinitely, he cherishes close, family-like communication with his partners, striving to improve the environment in the production areas and keep producers motivated.

Recently, Maruyama has adopted a cycle of spending approximately 200 days a year abroad. He travels both domestically and internationally, introducing nearly 100 unique coffees to Japan. What Maruyama is currently focusing on is the pairing of coffee and honey. Coffee and honey are naturally a good match, but he recently encountered a combination that was far more wonderful than anything he had ever tasted before. "It was a pairing with wild bee honey from Khmer honey. The coffee tasted with it transcended the realm of mere pairing and felt like a completely new genre of beverage, and I felt incredibly fortunate to have discovered it." This pairing has even impressed Maruyama, so it's a must-see for coffee lovers!

Like a whole new genre! Enjoy the blissful feeling that its aroma brings— Geisha coffee, cultivated by producer Wilford, is characterized by its floral fragrance. Its flavor pairs perfectly with Khmer Honey April Vintage Honey.
