ZEGNA | Fall/Winter 2026 Collection A FAMILY CLOSET – For clothing that embodies a life and is passed down through generations [FASHION HEADLINE]

ZEGNA 's vision of a "family closet" is more than just a storage space. It is a sanctuary that acknowledges the durability and value of clothing, celebrating items that have been preserved over time, and a place that holds memories and time until the moment they are worn again. This space, where instinct and intuition, thought and inheritance intersect, creates encounters that transcend generations through the act of wearing clothes, and emerges as a realm of memory where traces of many lives overlap.

A fictional closet conceived from real clothing.

The Fall/Winter 2026 collection unfolds in a fictional closet filled with real items, including personal belongings of Gildo Zegna (Group Executive Chairman) and Paolo Zegna, the third generation of the founding family, as well as clothing inherited from their ancestors. What is present there is a deeply rooted love for weaving fabrics and wearing clothes. This love is so strong that the very idea of discarding anything seems unthinkable.

Inside the closet, the first suit made to order using Australian wool for Count Ermenegildo Zegna in the 1930s, the "ABITO N.1," is displayed in a glass case like an exhibit in a museum.

Alessandro Sartori talks about "the outer skin"

For artistic director Alessandro Sartori, fashion is rooted in experience. He views clothing as "pages in a diary that chronicles life itself" and "the outer skin we choose to wear," and this collection tells the story of a "baton pass," where clothes that have been kept safe in a family's closet are used again by a different generation and a different family.

The surprise of encountering a garment once owned by one's father, grandfather, or uncle; the discoveries that arise from interpreting different ways of wearing it; and the urge to take on new challenges—these feelings, along with a strong interest in the wordless dialogue that takes place between the body and movement, permeate the entire collection. The iconic Trofeo wool, born in 1965, is also reinterpreted in a modern way, once again presented as a garment that connects generations.

A quiet elegance embodied in long and loose styles

The silhouettes are long and loose. While possessing a relaxed feel, the overall presence exudes quiet elegance. Coats and jackets are longer and larger, with striking square shoulders. Trousers flow down from a cinched high waist, creating a rich volume. The double-breasted style, which has traditionally symbolized rigidity, has been reinterpreted with a light and playful spirit. The simplified placket and the placement of horizontally positioned center buttons create versatility, allowing for both classic and more relaxed and open wear. Double-lapel blazers and double-collar blousons also embody this philosophy.

Items and materials that blur boundaries

Category boundaries are constantly blurring. Windowpane and check patterns have transformed into jacquard washed silk shirts, and the anorak shape has been redefined as something between innerwear and outerwear. Polo shirts are crafted from heavy materials, and stand-collar blazers with leather details, quilted leather vests, and bomber jackets are imbued with a graphic sensibility. Accessories include outdoor slippers and moccasins made from suede, wool felt, and nubuck, square eyewear, rain hats, and minimalist bags.

Time woven by color and texture

The color palette features creamy tones from Stella Alpina, Meriga, and Larice, layered with organic tones from Mogano, Brandy, and Terra, accented with Zaffiro, Bruma, and Giada. The materials are diverse, including wool paper, Trofeo wool, double cashmere, and Falkland wool, offering a rich texture and a sense of timelessness. Inside and outside the "family closet," generations quietly connect through shared values.
