Named after its founder, Michel Parmigiani, a watchmaker and restorer, the watchmaking maison was established in Fleurier, Switzerland in 1996. It is a manufacture that owns and produces all aspects of watchmaking within its group of companies.
The restoration work on past masterpieces, which forms the core of Parmigiani Fleurier's identity, is linked to the philosophy that these timepieces are worthy of restoration even far into the future.

The name "rattrapante" refers to the movement of one hand "catching up" to another, similar to the split-second chronograph hand.
While the watch has an extremely simple exterior, it hides an advanced mechanism inside that revolutionizes the display and operation of complex functions such as timers and dual time displays.
Unlike conventional rotating bezels with markings, the gold hand hidden beneath the minute or hour hand functions as a minute timer in the Minute Rattrapante model and as a GMT indicator in the GMT Rattrapante model, performing its function without detracting from the understated beauty of the Tonda PF.

Beneath the classic Milano blue dial lies a complex mechanism that drives two hour hands: a rhodium-plated gold hour hand indicating local time and a rose gold hour hand indicating home time.

The on-demand countdown timer is a world-first mechanism developed by Parmigiani Fleurier. While timers typically feature a bezel with markings, the rattrapante function offers superior practicality and intuitive operation.
