This September, Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building , celebrated its 20th anniversary. The first event in this anniversary year was titled "ALL MEN'S EXHIBITION," and featured a variety of events. Starting October 4th, the second event, "BONDS WITH FASHION," will begin.

The second installment, titled "The Bonds of Fashion," is a project that looks back on the history of ISETAN MEN'S and aims to create masterpieces that will lead to the next 20 years. By selecting best-selling items, masterpieces, and classics that have been supported by customers and updating them with the essence of Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building , it will produce many special limited edition and pre-release items.
From the men's contemporary section on the 6th floor, limited edition items from ssstein , YOAK , ATON , and Graphpaper will be available. Buyer Kunitomo explains their appeal.

When releasing these 20th-anniversary limited-edition items, Kunitomo had one thing in mind: the iconic "Black Watch/Isetan Men's" tartan used on the shopping bags at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building .

"Actually, in 2014, I was involved in the project to establish the Black Watch pattern for Isetan Men's. I was there when they added a checkerboard pattern in ni-iro (a traditional Japanese color) to the Black Watch pattern that had been used on the shopping bags at the Isetan Shinjuku Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building . I have a special attachment to this color and pattern."

The "BONDS WITH FASHION" project will also feature items incorporating this vermilion color, inspired by "Black Watch/Isetan Men's."

Limited edition knit items inspired by Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building , are now available from two creator brands that have garnered attention from overseas.

"From ssstein , a brand now active both domestically and internationally, comes a driver's knit that is both a trendy item and a popular item within the brand. The current inline version is generously oversized and made of a soft, fluffy material, but this time it was created with Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building in mind. The sizing is closer to the original model, and the yarn weight has been tightened to give it a more masculine impression. The subtle vermilion stitching at the bottom of the pockets at the hem is a striking detail."

YOKE Mohair Knit

From YOAK , a brand that has expanded its activities overseas, comes a mohair knit inspired by the colors Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building . For the knit cardigan, a unique color is achieved by twisting together multiple colored threads such as green, black, and navy into mohair. We hope you will check out the texture and colors, which are difficult to convey in photographs. The crew neck features a panel border design. The balance of the color placement creates a chic and mature impression. A vermilion line has been added to this piece, and the colors have been softened to create a more harmonious look.

"From ATON Graphpaper , we introduce a collaboration project with Kyoto Montsuki, famous for its black dyeing. ATON's pullovers and hoodies hold special memories for us, and we have revived items that were specially dyed when we started carrying them at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building . Because the material is knitted to the highest possible density, the depth of Kyoto Montsuki's black dye is striking."
Graphpaper has dyed their broadcloth shirts and chef pants, which are consistently best-sellers at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building 6th floor, black. In addition to the deep color, they have a unique smooth texture and a soft, supple finish.
I feel a very strong connection to Kyoto Montsuki because we collaborated on one more than 10 years ago, when I was an assistant buyer, as part of the Only MI project at the time.


On the 6th floor, in the men's contemporary section, many "BONDS WITH FASHION" items from brands we couldn't introduce here will be released. We encourage you to come and see them in person.
