The Breitling Navitimer, an iconic piece from the brand, is celebrating its 70th anniversary. To commemorate this milestone, Isetan Shinjuku will be holding a Breitling Navitimer Collection Fair from Wednesday, May 25th to Tuesday, June 7th, in the promotion space on the 1st floor of the main building.

Founded in 1884 by Léon Breitling, Breitling developed the first "Navitimer" in 1952. The Navitimer began as a "wristwatch chronograph with a slide rule" that could perform various aviation calculations required by pilots.

This watch, a favorite of professional pilots who need to keep accurate time and access precise information, was adopted as the official timepiece of the International Owners Pilots Association (AOPA), the world's largest pilots' club, two years after its development. Featuring the association's wing logo at the 12 o'clock position, this model was named the "Navitimer," a combination of "navigation" and "timer," and continues to be beloved by fans to this day.

The Navitimer has evolved over its 70-year history to adapt to the times, but it has inherited a common design code. The new model released in 2022 to commemorate the 70th anniversary is no exception, inheriting the design code of the Navitimer's roots: the aviation slide rule, baton indices, three chronograph counters, and the distinctive knurled bezel.

This new model features a flattened rotating slide rule and a domed crystal, giving it a more classic and stylish look than previous models. To match the new design, blue, green, and copper have been added to the color variations. Furthermore, the availability of three case diameters (41mm/43mm/46mm) and two case materials allows for a wide range of choices to suit individual preferences.

Starting as a watch for professional pilots, the Navitimer is also beloved by fashion and style leaders. This fair will showcase not only the new models released in 2022, but also an archive display tracing its history and a collection that conveys the allure of Breitling.
