Junpei Seki
Born in Tokyo in 1979. In 2015, he moved to France to help with the opening of the Paris branch of the select shop "1LDK" where he was working at the time. Since 2016, he has been working as a freelancer, acting as a bridge between Japanese and French fashion, and is active in a wide range of fields, mainly men's fashion. He currently runs the shop "PARKS Paris" in the 16th arrondissement of Paris and is involved with brands such as CIOTA and SH/S.H.

  • What is a checkpoint stamp (SEKISYO-IN)?

This initiative aims to cultivate international brands for the coming era and to communicate the essence of a select shop—"discerning taste"—in a new way. Derived from the "checkpoints" that were important transportation hubs in the Middle Ages, it signifies that all brands and creativity open up to the world by passing through this point.

We are creating the select shop of the future. To achieve this, we want to cultivate world-class brands ourselves and share them with the world. Not just in fashion, but in igniting the hearts of all creators who aspire to go global. That is SEKISYO-IN.

"SEKISHOIN" is a project that discovers and nurtures global brands for a new era, and transmits the essence of a select shop—"discerning taste"—in a new way. The "Creative Fashion Award by SEKISHOIN" audition, held in conjunction with the project's launch, is an award to discover brands that will form the core of "SEKISHOIN," a select shop scheduled to open in 2023.

In Season 1, three brands participated: TOHNAI , designed by Yuji Fujinai; WESTOVERALLS, by Tatsumasa Onuki; and HATSKI, by Masayoshi Miyake. Each brand produced clothing and visuals for a single theme, within the same timeframe and budget. The winner, chosen based on sales profits, would then receive support from "Sekisho-jirushi" in their efforts to elevate their brand to a global one.

This pop-up event will feature a selection of clothing from three brands, primarily TOHNAI , the winner of the award. We hope you'll enjoy this opportunity to see and touch the unique clothing of each brand in person.

Tonai

Fabrics that allow you to enjoy the texture of natural materials. Inspiration from the manufacturing process. Craftsmanship that values dialogue. Clothing that strikes a balance between a comfortable tension and relaxation. No seasonal collection presentations; creation is done as the mood strikes and as the feeling arises.

Although this is the brand's first collection, the designer's career and track record are far beyond what you'd expect from a new brand, and everything is designed with great balance. The attention to detail in the fabrics is particularly outstanding, resulting in clothing that is simple yet powerful and atmospheric. These are clothes that evoke a sense of ownership satisfaction, and I hope young people will try them out, even if it feels a bit too grown-up. (Seki)

West Overalls

This Japanese jeans manufacturer, created by denim-loving designer Tatsumasa Onuki, is themed around the story of how Western jeans originated in Nîmes, France, traveled east, and flourished in America.

The designer, who has a deep understanding of vintage clothing, has created something truly unique: he's not just a denim enthusiast, but a fashion icon. The combination of interesting design and high quality comes from a complete understanding of the background and roots of denim. I hope people will rediscover the profound depth of denim. I also recommend checking out Sekisho-jirushi's YouTube presentation, which is quite interesting. (Seki)

Hatsuki

The theme is August, evoking the vibrant colors of nature, such as the deep blue sky and crystal-clear sea. The aim is to create more neutral clothing that can be loved by both men and women, born from the careful sewing and patterns of skilled artisans and soft materials.

This brand has a very appealing background and the youthfulness of its designer. Of the three brands featured here, I think it has the easiest designs to wear, but in reality, it doesn't seem to be doing anything complicated. I want people to see that everything, from the fabric selection to the pricing, is done at a high level. (Seki)
