Cravatta by Renaknatta is holding a pop-up event, turning old kimonos into neckties!
- 10.06 Wed -10.12 Tue
- Isetan Shinjuku Men's Building 1F Dress shirts and ties
From Wednesday, October 6th to Tuesday, October 12th, Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building 1st floor dress shirts and ties section will host a pop-up shop for cravatta by renacnatta , a brand that gives new value to kimonos that are no longer worn. During the event, in addition to ties made from kimono fabric, pocket squares and neckerchiefs will also be available.
While kimonos are now strongly associated with traditional Japanese patterns, in the era when they were worn as everyday clothing, they incorporated a variety of designs beyond just traditional Japanese styles. The brand Cravatta by Renacnatta, which embraces the concept of "wearing culture," proposes styling items that breathe new life into kimonos that are no longer worn, by using these playful kimonos as accessories.
Seven-fold ties from 22,000 yen
The brand's signature item, the necktie, is sewn using the seven-fold stitching technique, a method employed by highly skilled craftsmen. Because the seven-fold stitching method does not use interlining or lining, it maximizes the texture of the fabric itself, allowing you to fully appreciate the suppleness of a kimono.
A tie that softly accentuates the neckline is recommended not only for dressy styles but also as an item to add a casual touch to your outfit.
This pop-up event, the first of its kind Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building , will showcase a wide variety of seven-fold ties made from unraveled kimonos. In particular, ties luxuriously crafted using Oshima Tsumugi, a traditional Japanese craft and one of the world's three greatest textiles, will be supple yet durable, making them precious items that can be passed down through generations.
