"The Art of the V-Zone" is a series that proposes V-zone coordination techniques incorporating the latest themes each time. Starting this time, as an irregular series, we will introduce the outfits and V-zone coordination techniques of guests from various brands who visited Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building .

This episode's guest
Seaward & Stern, Mark Stern

Seaward & Stern , a London representative brand that carries on the elegant and rich style unique to Britain, offers ties, scarves, shirts, pocket squares, and more. Founded in London in 2002 by Mark Stern, who gained experience at TURNBULL&ASSER , and Gary Seaward, who has a long career in the tie industry, the ties are carefully handcrafted in a workshop in central London using traditional British methods. The ties are sewn by artisans who carefully check the condition of the fabric, resulting in an exceptional fit around the neck and a comfortable feel when tied. Mark Stern visited Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building in late November to offer personalized styling suggestions to each customer.

TODAY'S GUEST STYLE

"Consciously using contrast creates a stylish British gentleman look," says Mark Stern, who introduced us to British fashion. We hope you enjoy his look suggestions, which utilize a different approach to contrast than Italians.

First, we asked him about the key points of his outfit for the day. The main point was the large geometric tie, and he said he chose a tie that was typical of Seaward, given that it was a trunk show. He recommends printed ties because they make a nice knot, and he said that the UK has excellent hand-printing techniques, and that 50-ounce printed ties are thick and easy to use.

BARBA shirt ¥31,900, Seaward & Stern tie ¥20,900

Using a bright pink striped tie instantly gives you a British style.

Mark says the British like bright colors. He says the combination of pink and blue is a classic. Pairing blue with a brown tie is something Italians also do, but adding a bright pink stripe as an accent color creates a high contrast and makes it distinctly British. Pair it with a navy or gray suit.

Kamichaio Oggi shirt ¥14,300, Seaward & Stern tie ¥20,900

A classic paisley tie is given a sporty twist.

This combination, envisioned as a sporty jacket style, works well with both navy blazers and brown jackets. Pairing it with gray flannel trousers completes a sporty, seasonal look. One key point is to match the textures of the jacket, tie, and trousers. Even a classic, vintage-inspired paisley tie takes on a modern feel in this outfit.

FAIRFAX shirt ¥16,500, Seaward & Stern tie ¥20,900

For important meetings, a polka-dot tie is the British way to dress formally.

Finally, we have a formal outfit inspired by a navy suit, perfect for business settings. In the UK, polka dot ties are so common in meetings that they're sometimes called "boardroom ties." While polka dot ties can sometimes look a bit stiff, pairing them with a cleric dress shirt softens the impression. The key is the irregular spacing of the dots. This V-zone, which subtly exudes a contemporary and sporty image, is sure to set you apart from the crowd.

He explained, "Instead of a monochromatic look, focusing on contrast will give you the style of a British gentleman." Seaward & Stern helps create a V-zone that is both classic and modern.
