cantate a fashion brand that pursues made-in-Japan clothing, from dresses to casual wear. Since its founding in 2015 by designer Shin Matsushima, the brand has been highly regarded in the industry for its high-level designs, materials, and sewing, produced through direct contact with Japan's top textile manufacturers and factories.

The lineup is incredibly diverse, ranging from dressy coats, jackets, pants, and shirts to military wear and denim pieces that are reinterpreted in a unique style.

This autumn, ISETAN MEN'S has commissioned a special edition of the classic nylon flight jacket, the "MA-1." While retaining the original details, the result is a truly superb outer garment that is functional, tough, and elegant.

The MA-1 jacket was developed by the US military starting in the 1940s, and after numerous design and detail changes, it settled into its final form in the 1950s. Steve McQueen wore it in the movie "The Hunter," and his stylish look became a worldwide sensation.


cantate 's MA-1 jacket, originally only available for women, has been resized for men specifically for this project. The outer shell uses "66 nylon," which boasts excellent heat resistance and mechanical strength. The high density of the nylon gives it a unique sheen and just the right amount of stiffness, bringing a beautiful luster to what would otherwise be a rugged jacket, adding a touch of elegance.

Furthermore, the liner is luxuriously made with rare, top-grade silk blanket material, even extending to the inside of the sleeves. Since the fabric was originally developed for bedding, it is not only warm but also light, soft, and has an exquisite feel against the skin.

Despite its sleek, no-nonsense exterior, the garment offers such a gentle warmth that you'll hesitate to take it off once you've put it on—this is undoubtedly one of the pinnacles of modern luxury wear.
