John Smedley, a knitwear brand founded in 1784, has re-examined the distinctions between formal and casual occasions this season, creating a new basic series with fresh silhouettes.

The brand is known for its two signature knit types: the finest 30-gauge and the more robust 24-gauge. This series utilizes the 24-gauge knit. Based on a historically proven basic pattern, the garment has undergone meticulous size adjustments to achieve an exquisite size balance that maintains its elegance.


This series features a wider shoulder width than the current model, creating a more relaxed sleeve line, and proportionally, the body width has also been made more generous. By incorporating features that require high skill and effort, such as changing to a straight shoulder that connects the neck to the shoulder tip in a straight line, the seams are extremely thin, eliminating bulk around the shoulders and improving comfort, which is a welcome feature.

At Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building 1st floor, the sweater and casual shirt section offers four styles: V-neck cardigans, crew neck cardigans, crew necks, and mock necks. The wide variety of six colors for each style, mainly classic colors, is also a major draw.
