We asked androp, who are the ambassadors and theme song performers for ISETAN Shoe Fair 2019, about "Sensibility and Shoes."

The band "androp," celebrating their 10th anniversary this year, possesses a keen sensibility that captures the spirit of the times and a deep musicality. We asked them to look at the shoes that will grace the ISETAN Shoe Fair. What were their choices?

This is a four-member rock band consisting of Takahito Uchizawa, Takuya Sato, Kyosuke Maeda, and Akihiko Ito. They debuted in December 2009 with their first album, "anew." To date, they have released 11 singles and 10 albums (including best-of albums), and have also worked on numerous theme songs for movies and dramas, as well as commercial jingles. For this year's ISETAN Shoe Fair, "Kitakaze san" from their album "cocoon" was selected as the theme song.


androp, a four-member band who are the official ambassadors for ISETAN Shoe Fair 2019 and also created the theme song, have a diverse musical style that encompasses everything from pop to electronic music, centered on rock. Their music resonates with the ISETAN Shoe Fair, which embodies the diversity of shoes. We asked them to come face-to-face with the shoes on display at the ISETAN Shoe Fair and pick some based on their intuition.

Frontman Takahito Uchizawa picked up a pair of Magnanni sneakers made with yellow python leather. He said he chose them because python is an unfamiliar material. "I want to be able to wear shoes like these, so that I don't get overshadowed by them," said Uchizawa.

Guitarist Takuya Sato chose Crockett & Jones' cordovan wholecut "Alex" shoes. "The key point is that it's the model that the spy wore in the movie," he explained. He opted for a stoic black color.

Bassist Kyosuke Maeda is a shoe enthusiast who owns several pairs of high-end ready-made shoes himself. The shoes he chose as "shoes he genuinely wants" are Edward Green's 'Dover' with a Ridgeway sole. Maeda has also recently become interested in British fashion.

Drummer Akihiko Ito chose Church's "Shannon" shoes made with cordovan leather. He said that this round-toe style caught his eye because it suited the shape of his feet and his clothing style.

Each pair of shoes has its own unique character, yet there's a certain harmony to the four chosen pairs. It's no surprise, considering the band has reached its 10th anniversary.

Chosen shoes: MAGNANNI python leather sneakers

It's definitely the look that catches my eye. The color looks like it would stand out on stage, and it would definitely stand out even from a distance. I want to become the kind of man who can pull this off, so that I don't get overshadowed by the shoes. I don't own any shoes made of exotic leather, but it's such an unknown material to me that I'm really drawn to it.

Takahito Uchisawa
He is the vocalist and guitarist of androp. He is responsible for composing, writing lyrics, and arranging most of androp's songs. He also provides songs and produces for artists such as Aimer and Mone Kamishiraishi.

Chosen shoes: Crockett & Jones "Alex" Black Cordovan

The reason is that I heard the main character in that spy movie wore them in the film. They're every man's dream. The silhouette is beautiful, isn't it? Plus, the single piece of leather is cool. They might even look good with a suit, giving off a Beatles vibe. I think black would be the best color.

Chosen shoes: EDWARD GREEN "Dover" last 32

I've worn quite a few leather shoes, but I've never had the chance to own a pair of Edward Greens, and I'm interested in them. This one has the best color and shape, and considering its practicality, I'd go for the one with a Ridgeway sole. I've been leaning towards British style for the past few years, and I have a lot of British-style clothes, so I thought British shoes would be a good choice too.

He plays bass. He loves saunas and is also a certified sauna ambassador by the Finnish Tourist Board.

Chosen shoes: Church's "Shannon" Cordovan

These shoes have a round, chunky shape, so I thought they would be easy to wear even for my bony feet. I also thought they would go well with the casual clothes I usually wear. I like the burgundy cordovan color, so I thought they looked cool.
