Tanabe is also a fitter for PXG, a brand that has garnered attention as the top-of-the-line custom club chosen by PGA Tour pros "to win." The more you listen to Tanabe's explanation, the more strongly you feel that fitting is essential when purchasing clubs.
Just as Tanabe began explaining PXG irons to the reporting team, a businessman, still in his suit after work, came into the store and intently examined the PXG irons. His first question to Tanabe was, "Which irons are easier to hit?"
Apparently, he only started playing golf in April of last year, and his current score is around 120. He said he became interested in PXG after borrowing and hitting some irons when he took golf lessons because he wanted to improve his game.
In response to various questions such as "I want to improve my skills," and "I want a pair of clubs that I can use for a long time," the customer seemed to have decided to purchase one after receiving precise advice from Tanabe, saying, "I want to treat myself." They nodded in agreement with Tanabe's words, "It's an expensive item, so take your time to try it on and choose carefully."
For golfers who want to use clubs that no one else has.
Tanabe, a club fitter with approximately 15 years of experience, says that what he values most during fittings is "respecting the first impression when touching the club and setting up, valuing the feeling when hitting the ball, and taking into account the data from the ball flight measurement device."
He was an amateur with a handicap of 7, but he said he obtained an assistant professional qualification so that he could provide more in-depth fitting services.
A club fitter's role is to suggest clubs that are tailored to each individual's body, using test data to change shafts and grips, and recommending club manufacturers. Tanabe, who has tried out a variety of clubs, says that the appeal of PXG is that "for drivers, you can change the head balance and center of gravity by adjusting the weight screw on the head, and there are four types of heads, including fairway and utility clubs. For irons, there are four types of heads available, from beginner to advanced players, and they look good and have a wide sweet spot."
"Right now, the overwhelming majority of people who choose PXG are those who want to use clubs that no one else has. Delivery times have also stabilized to one to one and a half months, so please try them out and experience the unique feel that you can't find anywhere else," he recommends.
