[Series] Beginner Golf Navigation - The Road to Your First Round #Round 3 | I participated in a "Course Debut Experience Event"!（1/2）

Ota, the Authentic Casual Sales Manager at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building 's Building (7th floor), who has started attending the golf school "Swing" located on the rooftop, participated in a beginner-only lesson session recommended for those just starting out in golf—a course debut experience session. With advice from Swing's manager, Hiroko Nakagawa, he began his first-ever lesson on a golf course!


The course where the trial session will be held will be reserved exclusively for Swing members.


The course debut experience will be held at a riverside course located about 5 minutes by bus from the west exit of Kawaguchi Station on the JR Keihin-Tohoku Line. The course will be exclusively reserved for Swing members, and an instructor will be present, so even golf beginners can participate with peace of mind and without feeling embarrassed.

--First of all, congratulations on completing the course debut experience session.
I was feeling anxious before coming to the Ota course, and to be honest, I was a little scared (laughs). But when I saw everyone participating in the trial session, I thought, "They're probably all at about the same level as me," and because it was a small group, it felt very homey, and before I knew it, my nervousness had disappeared.

—What was it like when you first went out onto the course?
The course at the Ota Riverbed was really pleasant. The golf ball is so small, but the field is huge! (laughs). As I walked to the course, I started to feel motivated to improve my skills.



—First, you picked up a putter to practice the "basic four shots." How was it?
It's easy to practice putting on the Ota Putting Mat, but when I actually got onto the green, I was surprised by the varying wind strengths, the complex grain of the grass, and the subtle slopes. The instructor advised me to "measure the distance and point the putter face at a right angle," but I wish he would just draw a line with a ruler pointing towards the cup (laughs) . I often hear that "putting is the hardest part," but I realized that "the difference becomes apparent once you're on the green."

—Next, you practiced chip shots, pitch shots, and full shots from around the green, right?
Ota: I initially thought that "golf has too many types of equipment," but when I started hitting from around the green towards the pin, I realized that pitching wedges and sand wedges are essential irons. However, judging the distance is incredibly difficult. You can't even go out on the course if you don't know "how far the ball will go with which club you swing."
