[Video] Katsumi Yabe x New Generation Creators of Naples | Vol. 3 Enrico Manzo - The Challenge of Streamlining the Production Line of a Sartorial Studio(1/2)

Isetan Men's is focusing on the new Neapolitan style proposed by young creators. In an era where "suits are no longer a necessity" in business attire, it's refreshing to "enjoy suit style voluntarily"—wearing a suit only when truly necessary, wearing a tie because you like it, and preferring shirts to T-shirts or polo shirts. At Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building , the individuality of young Neapolitan tailors who are passionate about their craft meets the individuality of their customers, and a new era emerges when customers wear clothes tailored specifically for them.

"Neapolitan clothing is unique to Naples, even within Italy. Buyers from all over the world come to purchase it for the wealthy, seeking the Neapolitan culture and history embodied in the garments," says Enrico Manzo, founder of the Neapolitan tailor PRINCIPE D'ELEGANZA. Katsumi Yabe, executive fashion editor of the fashion magazine "MEN'S Precious" (published by Shogakukan), explores the background of this clothing production.

A workshop in Naples where exceptional artisans have gathered.

PRINCIPE D'ELEGANZA is a factory brand of suit brands that boasts bespoke quality. Founded by a woman who honed her skills at renowned tailors and a merchandiser who recognized her talent, the brand combines handcrafting and machine work to produce garments at a level close to that of a bespoke tailor, offering both made-to-order and ready-to-wear options.

Could you please tell me about Enrico Yabe's profile?
Enrico was born in Naples in 1960. After graduating from university with a degree in economics, he entered the world of fashion business. After serving as the sales manager for Luigi Borrelli, he launched Principe di Eleganza 10 years ago with his partner Antonella Della Rosa. Her skills, honed at Attolini and Kiton, and my sales skills are the two pillars of the brand.
What is the origin of the Yabe brand name?
The "Principe" in Enrico Principe di Eleganza comes from Prince Antonio of the former Kingdom of Naples, who was a fashionable prince representative of Naples. The "Eleganza" part expresses our wish that by wearing our clothes, "each and every customer will possess elegance."

Yabe: I have something I wanted to ask Enrico today. What is it about your partner Antonella Della Rosa's technique that you found so appealing?
The tailoring industry is a male-dominated world everywhere in the world, and it is rare for men's suits to be made by a woman's eyes and hands. Antonella started working as a seamstress at the age of 13 and has nearly 40 years of experience, including 10 years at Attolini, so she has a wealth of work experience. The skills she acquired while training at Kiton and Attolini are superb, and she wanted to put them to use in Neapolitan tailoring first.
