Buyer Shinozaki listens to the students' opinions and answers their questions.

What were the initial selection criteria considered by buyers when actually commercializing a product?

"Wearing a suit is one way to express yourself, but at the same time, the impression you give to others is also important," says buyer Shinozaki.
The selection criteria were based on how to express individuality while conveying a certain impression to others, and how to create that impression on those who see the outfit. The smallest "gap" between the impression given and the impression received was apparently the key to success.

"I think that one of the driving forces behind fashion is the subconscious desire to 'be attractive to others.' The fact that all three teams share this concept of 'wanting to be attractive' means that, to some extent, they are concerned about how others perceive them and pay attention to their objective impression when they wear suits. I was reminded once again that this is extremely important in fashion."
When choosing fabrics, each team had a reason why it had to be that particular fabric, rather than simply choosing their favorite color or pattern. Throughout the workshop, I could sense that they were not only thinking about the finished product, but also imagining the situations in which they would actually wear it." he continues.

ISETAN MEN'S suit ¥52,920. Also available in dark navy in the same material!

The concept behind the commercialized ultimate combat suit is "Intelligence x Sex Appeal".

concept
▷ The sense of security you give when meeting with superiors = sincerity
▷ Can be used in important situations = mature
▷ The desire to be attractive to others = sex appeal

The selected team proposed fabrics and models based on these three conceptual axes. They seemed to have a lot of hesitation when thinking about the concepts, but in the end, they were able to solidify them well. The keywords sincerity, maturity, and allure represent not only the product itself, but also the situation of the person wearing it, and anyone can imagine what it means. Although the output is important, the reason for the decision was that they felt the story behind it was the most connected to the product.

Buyer Shinozaki describes the appeal of the commercialized suits as follows: "Instead of patterned fabrics or glossy silk, you can really appreciate the quality of the solid-colored material, and the vibrant Italian colors contribute to the elegance. Furthermore, the moderately shaped waist is glamorous and emphasizes masculinity. Wearing this battle uniform—this suit—will surely bring you closer to becoming a businessman who achieves his dreams!" he says with confidence.
This suit will be available at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building 5th floor, Business Clothing section, starting September 20th (Wednesday). Students who are about to enter the workforce should definitely try it on.
