Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building 2nd Floor = International Creators Stylist Daiki Sato
My father and mother used to wear Yohji Yamamoto and Comme des Garçons.
I'm in charge of Creators Advance, which handles many collection brands and up-and-coming brands such as MARNI , John Lawrence Sullivan, and Sacai. Today, I'm wearing a jacket by American-Chinese designer Yang Li, a Yohji Yamamoto shirt and pants, and Kids Lovegate shoes.
My mother's family owned a clothing store, and she often wore 80s Yohji Yamamoto and Comme des Garçons. It looked stylish, but I hated being dressed differently from the other mothers at school events (laughs). Looking back now, it was great, though. My father also liked Yohji Yamamoto , and I wore his hand-me-downs; I think it's amazing that the clothes can be worn by two generations.
When I was in my second year of university, I went to Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building , and I thought, "Oh, I know this brand!" That's how I discovered Yohji Yamamoto . I thought, "Maybe I'm old enough to wear it now?" and bought my first pair of Yohji pants. I was really drawn to the design; it was love at first sight. It's hard to put into words, but it was like, "I've found it!"

Sato describes "Yohji Yamamoto: A Record of Fashion" (Bunka Publishing Bureau) as his personal bible. "The best part is that it's written in Yohji's own words."
I majored in Environmental Information Studies in university, but I chose Yohji Yamamoto for my graduation thesis. I based my thesis on the book "Yohji Yamamoto: A Record of Fashion" (Bunka Publishing Bureau), which I read almost every day. I was drawn to Yohji's lifestyle and his approach to clothing design, and reading the book made me like him even more.
I'd really like to meet Yoji. If I did, there are so many things I'd like to ask him, like, "How can I become a man like you, Yoji?"
My love for next-generation heavy metal is actually influenced by my mother. I'm drawn to the "rebellious spirit of the 80s."
