Clematis was started in 2008 by Keitaro Takano, who apprenticed under Nobuyoshi Seki, a legendary shoemaker that Japan is proud of, and honed his skills as a craftsman in charge of the bespoke department at the renowned Kanazawa shoe store "KOKON Shoe Store". Known as a bespoke shoemaker that creates shoes by hand, the brand will be launching a ready-made line this February at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building B1F = Men's Shoes.

The theme is gentleman's shoes with a soft atmosphere that will catch the eye of women.

A crucial element in launching Clematis's ready-made line was Mr. Takano's encounter with "Joe Works." This encounter with the highly skilled factory allowed Mr. Takano to realize his dream of "one day creating ready-made shoes that have the feel of handmade shoes." He carved a new last, created a pattern from the design, and selected the leather. He says the result is a product he is very satisfied with.
Furthermore, the shoelaces, perforations, and exotic leather add a touch of glamour and playfulness. The designer's desire for these shoes to catch the eye of both men and women, sparking conversations, is reflected in the meticulous attention to detail.


The last, which expresses the beautiful curves and strength reminiscent of Clematis's bespoke line, offers a high level of fit in the arch and heel, and a beautiful silhouette with a low instep. The two-tone "Blooming Lace" adds a touch of flair to the shoe's appearance, making it stand out even within its basic design.

Based on his experience with bespoke shoes, Mr. Takano himself crafts each pair, from creating the shoe last to considering the overall balance. The shoes exude a handmade feel and become more refined the more you wear them.
