It's been a personal, timeless favorite since my student days.

This is a classic John Smedley knit polo shirt that comes out every season. I first bought one when I was a student, and since then I've added more in different colors and fits. Currently, the brand offers three types: the "MODERN FIT" with a moderate amount of room, the "STANDARD FIT" which is the global standard, and the "EASY FIT," a classic fit that has been loved as an iconic model for many years. I own six shirts in two of these types. I'm drawn to the brand's versatility; it's a timeless classic that has been loved for a long time, yet it offers fit options that are in line with the times, allowing me to choose the perfect fit to match the style I want to wear, whether dressy or casual.

The moment I touched it, I fell in love with the feel of this cut-and-sew garment.

I discovered this brand after taking on the role of buyer at the Haneda store. I was hooked by the silky feel the first time I touched it, and I bought short-sleeved shirts for spring and summer, and long-sleeved shirts for autumn and winter. The original fabric is made from hand-spun Peruvian extra-long staple Pima cotton, knitted with 60-count double yarn, and then mercerized to achieve a moist yet even smoother feel. The brand is a New York brand founded in 2013 by a couple who love cut-and-sew garments. The husband is a former Wall Street banker, and the wife is a textile designer—a fascinating background. The couple sources the materials themselves, and all processes from spinning to sewing are carried out in Peru. I also like that it's moderately thick, so it's great as an inner layer, but it also looks good worn on its own during transitional seasons.
