Yohji Yamamoto Pour Homme | A unique collaboration between a world-renowned fashion designer and a US brand [Isetan Shinjuku Store]

11.26 Wed -12.02 Tue
Isetan Shinjuku Men's Building 1F The Stage

Yohji Yamamoto POUR HOMME will be holding a "2025-26 Autumn/Winter POP-UP STORE" at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building, 1st Floor, The Stage from Wednesday, November 26th to Tuesday, December 2nd.

For Yohji Yamamoto , who has transformed countless vintage pieces into fashionable designs with an avant-garde and dynamic sensibility, why has he decided to collaborate with a classic American brand at this particular time? Many people will likely have this question in mind.

PENDLETON, VANSON LEATHERS, and HOLLYWOOD TRADING COMPANY. These three brands, which have teamed up for this project, are all representative American brands, yet are widely known for their classic design approach. On the other hand, these three brands share a common characteristic: in a word, "craftsmanship." No matter how much times change, they still uphold the good old spirit of handmade craftsmanship and the way of making things. This fact is valuable, and it resonated with Yohji Yamamoto 's philosophy of making things, which is rooted in an artisan spirit. This is the reason why they were able to create things together. "Mode × Classic America." From this unusual crossover, you can feel the undiminished spirit of challenge of Japan's leading artisan brands.

CASE ①: PENDLETON

—The hand-woven wool colors refined the archive pieces.

The check-patterned items featured in the Yohji Yamamoto POUR HOMME 2008-2009 Autumn/Winter collection added an accent to the predominantly black collection, creating a sophisticated mood. This collection reinterprets that archive, crossing it over with textiles from PENDLETON, a leading manufacturer of Made-in-USA fabrics, and updating its structured beauty. By combining Yohji Yamamoto 's craftsmanship, which creates sleek black silhouettes, with classic check patterns that evoke a pastoral mood, the pieces are elevated to a dark, fashionable level. The way the check pattern is seamlessly integrated into formal items to express a fashionable style is truly impressive.

This long scarf jacket is luxuriously crafted from rare, high-quality US-made checked fabric. In previous collections, it was suggested to be worn like a snood around the neck of a suit to create a striking look around the face, but as shown in this image, it can also be enjoyed by wrapping it around the entire body like a large blanket.

CASE ②: VANSON LEATHERS

—The incredibly powerful "BONE" exudes a 90s vibe.

In the 1990s, VANSON LEATHERS was a brand that made a striking impression as soon as it appeared on the Japanese youth culture scene. At the time, the frenzy was so intense that it even led to a serious incident known as "VANSON hunting" among some young people. The brand that enjoyed fanatical popularity in the 90s was none other than "BONE." This series, which reinterprets the striking design of BONE, reminiscent of the pioneering hardcore punk band MISFITS, in a fashionable way, features three items: a jacket, a bag, and gloves, as well as a non-saleable SS T-shirt. Each model is adorned with the BONE graphic and features the Yohji Yamamoto name.

Rider's jacket ¥968,000 / Yohji Yamamoto POUR HOMME × VANSON LEATHERS, T-shirt ¥22,000, Pants ¥121,000 / both Yohji Yamamoto POUR HOMME

Left: A striking outfit combining a black x black BONE rider jacket with black x white BONE gloves. The jacket expresses contrast through the texture of the leather, while the gloves express contrast through the color scheme. Even when using the same graphic, changing the approach to manufacturing makes a big difference in how it is presented.

Right: The BONE pattern tote bag was created with specifications different from the regular lineup of tote bags. The handle length was custom-ordered, the front and back panels are sewn on both sides, and the impactful BONE pattern leather patches on both sides are eye-catching. The BONE design SS TEE is a non-sale item for product purchasers only and is a rare piece (*The BONE design SS TEE will be given to all customers who purchase a Yohji Yamamoto POUR HOMME × VANSON LEATHERS rider jacket.)

CASE ③: HTC

—A one-of-a-kind piece that embodies uniqueness born from the abandonment of regularity.

HTC, a brand that rose to prominence in the fashion scene by focusing on studded leather belts—a rare and highly valued item in the vintage scene—and creating products with a highly structured and regular design, is now being entrusted with belt production by RRL, demonstrating just how skilled they are. This particular item is the result of a request to the brand to "deliberately" abandon regularity in its design, resulting in a punkish look. The randomly appearing studded work on Yohji Yamamoto 's signature jacket and pants set gives it a punk spirit, a testament to the artisan's skill. This is a one-of-a-kind item unlike anything else in the world.

Jacket ¥668,800, Pants ¥556,600 / both by Yohji Yamamoto POUR HOMME × HTC, Shirt ¥55,000 / Yohji Yamamoto POUR HOMME

Left: A sensational piece featuring a trucker-style denim jacket adorned with numerous studs for a punkish look. The word "YOHJI" is spelled out using handmade stud work. You can also see the "YOHJI" name in stud work on the tip of the belt hanging down the front.

Blouson ¥594,000, Belt ¥220,000 / both by Yohji Yamamoto POUR HOMME × HTC, Pants ¥83,600 / Yohji Yamamoto POUR HOMME

Right: An avant-garde design featuring a jacket and pants set adorned with stud work spelling out "YOHJI." This piece transforms an item that could easily appear formal into a highly stylish design. It's both fashionable and punk, a piece that once again conveys the underlying spirit of the brand.
