[Series] Mastering "Adult Baker Pants" with CIOTA | "Adult Field Trip" GUIDE by ISETAN MITSUKOSHI

In this "Adult Field Trip," GUIDE crew member Tsuchiya will learn how to style baker pants, which he has been wearing frequently lately, from fashion improver Seki, who is currently back in Japan from Paris.
Baker pants are easy to wear and versatile, but Tsuchiya says, "Depending on how you wear them, they can look sloppy, or they feel incomplete with just a T-shirt." So, Seki will teach you how to wear CIOTA 's baker pants, which are available exclusively at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building and other directly managed stores, in a way that looks "mature" and "stylish."

CIOTA 's "adult-style" baker pants are a must-see, especially Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building exclusive model.

Seki : Baker pants are American military-style work pants whose origins date back to around the 1940s. There are various theories about the origin of the name, but essentially, they are practical pants with minimal embellishments.
"Without the pocket embellishments of cargo pants, and treated more like chino-style work pants, these pants are appealing because they are easy to incorporate into an adult's wardrobe."

While CIOTA is known for its denim, baker pants have also been a specialty of the brand since its inception, and they will be launching a full range of them at ISETAN MEN'S starting this Fall/Winter 2025 season.

"The key point is that we adopted a sleeker silhouette than the wide line that CIOTA originally offered, and remade it into an 'adult-style' item that can be paired with shirts and leather shoes," says Seki. It comes in three colors: black, olive, and charcoal gray.

Tsuchiya: "Adult Bakery Techniques Using Black"

When Uchiya expressed a desire to "look sharp and stylish with baker pants paired with leather shoes," Seki suggested black. She explained that black leather shoes should be paired with black clothing for a chic look.

Seki:
CIOTA 's signature material is Suvin cotton, an extra-long staple cotton. It's incredibly smooth and soft, so it's very comfortable to wear, and the sleek feel gives it a slightly less casual and more refined look.

Tsuchiya: It feels incredibly good. It makes me feel sharp and stylish when I wear it.

Seki: Instead of black slacks, pairing black baker pants with a blue denim jacket creates a less formal impression. Adding leather shoes completes the look, balancing casualness with sophisticated elegance.
The smooth texture of the material gives it a clean look, so I think it would look great paired with tailored jackets like tweed in the fall and winter.

Tashiro: "How to make a difference with olive green."

Tashiro Nishiki chose olive. Since her outfit today is mostly green, she deliberately selected olive to create a contrast.

Seki : This is a back satin made with slub yarn of uneven thickness, the same kind used in military clothing, so the reverse side is a glossy satin fabric. It looks casual from the outside, but because the reverse side is satin, I think it will feel very smooth and comfortable to wear.

Tashiro : Compared to the military pants I was wearing today, the first thing I notice is how comfortable they are. The inside feels really nice, and they're smooth, so they'll be easy to wear in the fall and winter.

Seki : The silhouette is a beautiful, straight cut that falls smoothly, and it really looks good with any shoes without being pretentious. With leather shoes, it goes well with boots, plain toe shoes, loafers, and of course, trendy, chunky sneakers. I think it's a really versatile pair of pants.

Seki-san: "A sophisticated look achieved by wearing charcoal."

The third color of the special order model, charcoal, is worn by Seki himself. "People tend to think of it as a work pant color, but when CIOTA makes it, it turns out elegant," Seki says, and the entire crew nods in agreement.

Tashiro : Seki's relaxed way of wearing them is cool. I like the vibe of him wearing them low on his hips, and the impression changes depending on the length and how you wear them.

Seki: Compared to olive or black, charcoal is less likely to be seen on others and is a great choice for autumn and winter outfits.
