His passion for clothing and the styling theories he has cultivated over the years have made him a leading " Men's Attendant " at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building . What Kuchimoto values most is his stance of "people before clothes." The customer service skills of a "logical attendant" who finds the "shortest and most optimal" solution.
Since I work in the tailored clothing section, you might think I've always focused on suits and jackets, but actually, during my student days, I was deeply immersed in street fashion and designer brands. I'm part of the so-called Ura-Harajuku generation. I would wear DC brands and try out different styles on the streets. That's how I came to think, "I really want to work in a job related to clothes," and joined Isetan Shinjuku. Because I've experienced various styles myself, I can offer suggestions that aren't limited to just dressy clothes. I think there are surprisingly few sales staff in the company who can talk about both casual and high fashion.
I think my natural attraction to customer service stems from the fact that my family owned a local electronics store. I grew up watching my father, who moved to Tokyo from Kagoshima and is still actively working at the store. I believe my father had a big influence on me naturally learning to think about what customers want and how to satisfy them.
Furthermore, although it may seem surprising after I've mentioned my love for clothes, my customer service style is "theoretical." I utilize qualifications such as Skeletal Style Analysis®, Personal Color Analysis, and Formal Consultant to offer suggestions to customers based not only on intuition but also on well-supported logic.
Based on your purchase history, we understand your sizing, alteration needs, and existing wardrobe trends to strike a balance between what suits you and what you want to achieve. We are always striving to improve the accuracy of this process.
Lately, we've been receiving more inquiries about "special occasions" such as ceremonies, press conferences, and garden parties. In such cases, the first thing to do is to alleviate any anxieties. We guide clients to the optimal solution from various angles—size, color, time, place, and occasion—so that they can feel confident and at ease on the big day. I feel that this is where my role lies.
I love clothes with a scent. My encounter with Alfonso Sirica, a Neapolitan tailor.
ALFONSO SIRICA is a brand I have a particular fondness for, as I encountered it shortly after becoming an assistant buyer. At the time, it wasn't very well-known, but I was drawn to its unique style of tailoring, and I took notice of it early on. I visited the workshop in Naples myself and deepened my relationship with the company, which led to me attending the wedding of Alfonso's son, Fabio, last year.

Just as my own career has progressed, Alfonso Sirica has also become more well-known, and for me, it's like a partner with whom I've grown together. I love the Neapolitan tailoring style that isn't overly polished, but has a certain human touch. I have my own suits and jackets custom-made, and I also had my wedding tuxedo made by the same brand.
I aspire to be the "master of Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building " and to become someone who conveys culture.
At Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store, there is a special position called "Okami" (landlady), and I really admire her appearance at the storefront in her kimono, the way she interacts with customers, and her approach to her work. I had the opportunity to speak with her some time ago. As I continued as a category specialist, I began to feel that "it would be nice if Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building also had someone like a 'husband' who conveys culture."
I don't necessarily want a title; I want to be the kind of person who earns trust through their demeanor, their attire, and their very way of life. I hope to become that kind of person in my own way.
It might be presumptuous of me to think I could take on that role. But I think it's okay to have at least one person like that.
Even if customers don't make any purchases that day, Kuchimoto aims to be someone who makes them feel, "I'm glad I met you," through Mitsukoshi Isetan. Her deep love for clothing, her theoretical approach to style, and her unwavering passion for customer service combine to create a unique attendant service that only Kuchimoto can provide. Please experience it for yourself.
