1. Isetan Men's delivers a tailored suit that's "right in the heart of the classic style."
Inaba, a buyer for men's tailored clothing 2, handles a wide range of tailored wear from both domestic and international brands. While always making proposals that keep both the "spirit of the times" and "customer needs" in mind, this season he is particularly focusing on suits from ISETAN MEN'S , the original brand of ISETAN MEN'S .
"What we're aiming for is the 'heart of tailored suits.' A 'universal standard' that fits many people regardless of generation or style. For example, the shoulders should look structured and neat, while the suit should be lightweight and comfortable to wear. The workshop that makes this possible is 'Towa Plum' in Iwate Prefecture. I believe their technique of attaching sleeves to achieve the clean look seen in jackets from Northern Italy, and creating a three-dimensional effect with thin interlining, is among the best in Japan."
Furthermore, one of the highlights this season is the original fabric "Gentry Cloth," developed in collaboration with the prestigious Bishu textile company, Katsuri Woolen Mills.
"These days, solid-colored suits are the mainstream, but if they're too plain, they can be bland. So, while using a solid color as a base, I wanted to give it some character, and I took inspiration from my favorite British tweed to create a herringbone pattern with subtle white areas. Furthermore, by applying a special process called 'gently processing,' we've achieved a cashmere-like softness that you wouldn't expect from 100% wool."
2. One outfit for both on and off duty. A functional setup that meets the realities of modern life.
"In recent years, there has been a particularly high demand for 'suit sets that can be worn both on and off duty.' With remote work and changes in work-life balance, the boundaries between work and private life have become blurred, and I believe that suits that can be worn both on and off duty will become the standard for business style going forward. Three elements are especially important: 'a wool-like appearance,' 'suits that can be worn year-round,' and 'functionality.' I believe that suits that combine all of these elements truly meet the needs of today's world."
Inaba, who said this, introduced a special order product developed through a collaboration between TAGLIATORE , the fabric manufacturer <LEDA>, and Isetan. The material used is "LEDA Active," a high-performance wool that has a luxurious look, elasticity, and is easy to handle.
"This project began with the question, 'What kind of suit is truly needed?' While 'Leda Active' is a high-priced material, the collaboration between the three companies has allowed us to significantly reduce the price. We believe we've created 'the most realistic standard suit right now,' with a perfect balance of design, functionality, and cost performance. Recently, not only navy and black, but also stylish colors like beige have become popular."
This versatile suit combines a classic look with modern functionality and versatility, making it perfect for both casual and formal occasions. It's an unmissable item poised to become the next standard.
3. The true essence of classic trousers that will impress even the most discerning connoisseurs.
Another point Inaba emphasizes is his focus on "classic items for those seeking authenticity."
"The strength of our tailored clothing floor on the 5th floor is that it features brands that uphold authentic craftsmanship by artisans. This season, we've stocked Anderson & Sheppard trousers for the first time in a while, and these are another item I'd like you to pay attention to. They're called Style No. 2, a tapered fit with two pleats, and the silhouette, which is roomy around the waist and tapers neatly towards the hem, is like classic bespoke trousers. Although they are ready-to-wear, they offer an extremely high-quality wearing experience."
Furthermore, the classic feel is evident in the details, such as the single pocket on the hip and the two side-by-side waist buttons.
From functional suits that meet modern needs to highly refined classic items, Inaba's buying style is characterized by its ability to flexibly offer both.

Like Inaba, buyer Mizota is in charge of the men's tailored clothing floor on the 5th floor Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building . Mizota, who oversees a wide range of items from made-to-measure bespoke wear to ISETAN MEN'S shirts, ties, and accessories, has "material upgrade" as his keyword for this season.
"Our customers on the 5th floor are highly informed and possess a discerning eye for quality. To satisfy them, offering suggestions based on 'high-quality materials' is the most effective approach. Cifonelli 's bespoke coats are a prime example of this."
Until now, Cifonelli coats were only available through made-to-measure pattern ordering, but from this season onwards, they are available in a full bespoke style, "made from a pattern." These are truly authentic items produced by a leading French fashion house.
"Among them, I especially recommend this cashmere fabric. With a weight of 480g, it has a substantial feel and a solid, weighty texture, while also possessing the softness unique to cashmere. I think it can be tailored into a garment with a classic feel that will appeal to even the most discerning tastes."
2. ISETAN MEN'S navy tie, crafted from the finest silk.
Furthermore, this "material upgrade" is clearly reflected in the items of the private brand ISETAN MEN'S .
"The ties from our popular 'Navy Collection' from last year have been upgraded this season with improved silk material. We're using Brazilian silk yarn, the same kind used in scarves by top fashion houses. This enhances the luster and gives the tie a more supple, bouncy feel. Because it's a simple navy tie, we've focused on the quality of the material to create a tie that you can truly appreciate."
3. Cashmere x knit fabric. A winter staple that fits today's mood.
And as an item that is sure to be useful in the depths of winter, buyer Mizota confidently introduces a scarf that is a joint project between ISETAN MEN'S and PICEA. This model, which was popular last year, has been completely redesigned and further improved this season.
"Previously, we used woven fabrics, but this season we've switched to knitted fabrics. By using knitted material, it's easier to match not only with suits, but also with business casual and weekend casual styles. I feel that there's a demand for scarves that aren't too formal in today's lifestyle."
What's even more noteworthy is the size design tailored to Japanese people. While typical scarves are around 180cm, this one is set at 173cm, adjusted to achieve a perfect balance—not too much, not too little—when worn.
The collection features 12 colors, primarily basic shades. Based on the theme of upgrading materials, the lineup includes a diverse range of options, from pieces that will satisfy even the most discerning fashion enthusiasts to standard pieces that prioritize practicality.
Whether you're looking for high-quality, sophisticated clothing or something practical for everyday wear, Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building 5th Floor, offers a wide range of men's tailored clothing to meet diverse needs.
Please pay close attention to this season's selections, curated by the discerning eyes of buyers Inaba and Mizota, who are leading the floor.
