Dress in rare European vintage pieces and become a sophisticated adult!
National Coat Shop is a "traveling clothing merchant" that primarily deals in high-quality vintage European brand clothing and operates mainly through irregular sales events and an online store, without having a physical store.[Adult Field Trip] The GUIDE crew has mostly had opportunities to interact with American casual style vintage clothing such as jeans, but this is almost their first experience with Euro vintage clothing from Europe!
Incidentally, according to the shop owner, Mr. Sato, he shared an anecdote: "When I was using the logo '國立外套店' (National Coat Shop), my friends overseas started calling it 'NATIONAL COAT SHOP,' and I thought it sounded cool, so I just stuck with it as the shop name."
Tsuchiya is wearing a brand that is an iconic part of Paris's Left Bank culture!
The first jacket that shop owner Sato-san selected for Tsuchiya was a three-button single-breasted jacket from the now-defunct French brand ARNYS. It looks plain, but the material is a brushed cotton and it has side vents.Sato Arnys is an iconic brand of the Left Bank culture, beloved by prominent figures and cultural figures such as Jean Cocteau and Marcel Proust during the golden age of France in the 1920s, a time when Paris was known as "Hermès on the Right Bank, Arnys on the Left Bank."
Trying it on, Tsuchiya, really gives me a Parisian vibe. How about pairing it with the jeans you're wearing today?
I think Sato is great . The combination of denim and loafers also has a French feel to it. Looking at the construction, it has blazer-like features such as patch pockets, and it's simple but elaborate, with a half-lined back and silk used only for the sleeve lining.
When you wear Tsuchiya clothing , it has a sense of historical weight and sophistication, yet it feels light and comfortable to wear, making it something you'll likely wear often.
Sato's second jacket is also by Arnys, and this one is a Valstar-style leather jacket. Since it's made in Italy, I think it was made in some famous factory.
This is the Balstar model that Tsuchiya has always admired! It's also very lightweight. Incredibly lightweight. The buttons and other details are elaborate, but it feels like there's some kind of secret behind it...
Yes , it's reversible so you can wear it inside out, and it has slits on the sides for added functionality. I think it was a practical jacket for people who enjoy driving or similar activities.
While it's a classic, basic design typical of Tashiro, the esprit and elegant feel of it truly embodies the Euro vintage aesthetic.
Fushinuki Tsuchiya, aren't you getting a little too stylish?
Fushinuki looks like an architect wearing Arnis!?
Next, the first item that shop owner Sato-san selected for the "Knot Removal" segment was the "Forestier" corduroy jacket, a symbolic item from ARNYS. It is a masterpiece of French jackets that is said to have been loved by the famous architect Le Corbusier.Apparently, Le Corbusier's studio was located near the Sato Arnis store. There are various theories as to whether he came up with the idea, but it certainly fits the image of an architect who suits a stand-up collar.
It looks bulky at first glance, but it's surprisingly light when you wear it. The buttons also say "ARNYS PARIS".
Sato: The width is generous, and you can even roll up the sleeves. Items like this have a unique charm to each individual piece, and this one has different colors in the uneven parts of the corduroy, giving it an iridescent surface when viewed from different angles.
The grooves in the knot- cut texture are a bright blue, which adds depth to the color and makes it feel very elegant.
The other item Sato-san chose was a coverall-style jacket, typical of Arnys. The material is 100% silk, and the product itself is apparently from around 2010.
I don't usually wear red, and at first glance I thought it might be difficult to wear, but it has a nice, elegant drape, and it looks great worn like a shirt jacket.
"I want to leave the other two completely behind," said Tashiro, explaining his "special outfit."
Sato-san carefully selected a fur-trimmed leather/suede jacket from ZILLI, a brand founded in Lyon, France in 1970, for Tashiro. The jacket has a silk lining and is partially unlined at the back. Before putting on the Tashiro suit , I thought, "There's no way I can win with this," but I managed to ride it just barely. Also, I was surprised at how incredibly light it was.
This jointless design is just so cool. The back looks cool too.
The fur collar is detachable; removing the fur reveals a leather collar underneath.
Tashiro Camel, or rather, tan or tobacco colors, are popular with the French, aren't they? I like those colors too.
While American vintage clothing with the seams removed often has a rough, rugged feel, this Euro vintage piece is definitely more refined in its construction.
The second item from Tashiro Sato is a double-breasted jacket featuring a distinctive Arnys design. It's a so-called Napoleon jacket, and I think it would look great paired casually with shorts.
I doubt Tsuchiya-san or Fushinuki-san could wear this casual jacket yet (lol). They wear seersucker fabric, but wearing this one would make you look like a nobleman.
We're trying something we've never done before at "GUIDE by ISETAN MITSUKOSHI": a "three-person try-on"!
The first time the three of them tried on clothes together was an Arnys peach-skin spring coat. Tsuchiya and Tashiro wore the same model with belts at the legs, while Fushinuki wore one with a belt.
Tashiro 's peach skin material is so typical of France, it's absolutely fantastic.
The Sato Coat is named after its equestrian roots, but the leg straps can also be used for cycling and other activities.
Tsuchiya Arnis is an amazing brand.
Wearing Tashiro clothing really changes the atmosphere, doesn't it?
