G-Shock | Introducing "ICONIC STYLES," which inherits the origins of "HISTORY of G-SHOCK" and aims for new evolution [Isetan Shinjuku Store]
On April 12, 1983, CASIO amazed the world by releasing the G-SHOCK, a tough watch with enhanced shock and vibration resistance for harsh environments. Far exceeding ISO standards for shock-resistant watches, its high shock resistance, capable of withstanding the impacts of intense sports and the continuous vibrations of chainsaws and rock drills, transformed the lifestyles of people around the world at the time and established a new genre of wristwatch known as the "tough watch."
In conjunction with "JAPAN SENSES," which will be held at Isetan Shinjuku from February 19th (Wed) to February 25th (Tue), the Watch section on the 5th floor of the main building will offer a wide variety of G-Shock watches, which embody Japan's advanced technology.
The "original G-SHOCK reissue model" symbolizes the evolution and legacy of the brand.

The "First Generation G-SHOCK Reissue Model" that we are introducing today was released last December as a special model that revives the design that embodies the will and hopes for the future embodied in the original model, using the technology available in current G-SHOCK watches to the greatest extent possible.
The bezel's top surface, featuring the words "PROTECTION" and "G-SHOCK," boasts a flat design faithfully reproducing the original model. The case is made of stainless steel, just like the original, and the band's length, shape, and even the position of the dimples are all faithfully reproduced. This model embodies G-Shock's determination to return to its roots after 40 years and forge a path to the future.
What is the origin of G-Shock?
G-Shock established a new concept of toughness in watches, but it all began with the passionate belief of its developers to create a watch that wouldn't break even if dropped, and with a seemingly audacious challenge that defied the conventional wisdom of the time.
In 1981, the Tough project team, consisting of just three members, was formed, and the development of a new watch began. After more than 200 prototypes and approximately two years of work, they completed their unique aerial structure case (*), which marked the birth of the core technology of Tough.

Then, in 1983, the first G-Shock model, the "DW-5000," was born. Its iconic square design was created by eliminating all unnecessary elements and pursuing only shock resistance. It was considered the ultimate form for a G-Shock and has been passed down as an eternal standard to this day.
And since the square form of the first model, the "DW-5000," G-Shock has continued to produce a wide variety of designs, including the "6900 design," the "GA-110 design," and the "2100 octagon bezel," which has become the new standard for G-Shock.

From the "6900 design," an iconic design that represents G-Shock and has been a long-selling product, a special model commemorating its 30th anniversary will be released.
In February 1995, after the release of the first model, the "DW-6900H," the series' first color variation model, appeared and became popular among skateboarders and other thrashers. This special edition commemorates the 30th anniversary and features the three colors used in the "DW-6900H."

The top-of-the-line G-Shock series, "MR-G"
The MRG-B5000 is a model that recreates the original G-Shock model, the DW-5000C, using metal materials and meticulous finishing. By composing the complexly shaped bezel with 25 parts, it becomes possible to polish each part before assembly, resulting in a beautiful, distortion-free finish even in hard-to-polish areas such as recesses.
Furthermore, a new shock-resistant structure with enhanced strength is achieved by incorporating stainless steel leaf springs and silicone buffers between the bezel parts. The case is made of high-hardness titanium based on 64 titanium, and the band uses "DAT55G," a titanium alloy that is highly hard yet easy to process.

Since the birth of its first model in 1983, G-Shock has constantly pursued new challenges. The shock-resistant structure, born from the developers' belief in "creating a durable watch that won't break even when dropped," and the square form that eliminates all unnecessary elements in pursuit of strength, are still carried on in many models today as proof of its relentless pursuit of challenges and continuous innovation. The challenge of G-Shock, which established a new concept of toughness in watches, continues without end.
