The GUIDE crew, who have been pursuing basic fashion styles such as denim and vintage items, visited "cliché," a select shop located near Yoyogi Park.
"cliché" is a select shop located on the 5th floor Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building run by Matsushima, the designer of the popular brand cantate .
In this episode, Matsushima will introduce three crew members to "playful fashion" that goes from "basics to hop, step, and jump." Please watch until the end!

Once you've become "used to" fashion and started to "look stylish," the next step is "playfulness = quirks"!?

The playful spirit that the GUIDE crew aims for lies in "being authentic and essential, while deliberately deviating from the norm in terms of design and materials."
The select shop "cliché" mainly carries items from cantate , along with complementary brands, shoes, and accessories. According to owner Matsushima, they "develop wonderful items that can become a catchphrase."

Tsuchiya, a denim lover, has found the perfect pair of jeans that makes him want to show off!

For the "Adults' Field Trip," Tsuchiya, who is particular about denim, was chosen by Ishibashi for a pair of cantate denim jeans. "Cliché" carries the full lineup of three types of cantate denim.

Ishibashi: " cantate offers three types of denim: a straight-legged, slightly flared denim; the '1955' model, based on a 40-inch Levi's 501 but with the waist and other measurements adjusted to the correct size; and a denim with a center crease."

Tsuchiya: "The jeans that Tashiro-san often wears are from cantate , and I've always wanted to wear them myself. I fell in love with the center-creased jeans at first sight!"


Ishibashi: "Since it has a center crease, it can be paired with styles such as a shirt and tie."

Tsuchiya: "Tapered jeans that can be paired with dressy styles! They're truly playful!"


Ishibashi: "I recommend light indigo for Tsuchiya-san. It looks great tucked into a knit polo shirt."

Let's try a style where we only play with the top!

To overcome the impression of being too neat and lacking a playful touch, I selected BLESS pants with a front-to-back design, where the back is lined with a camouflage pattern.


Tashiro advises, "A basic M51-style blouson goes well with playful pants."


Furthermore, as a "recommendation for a playful style," Ishibashi chose a blouson jacket with a design that is essentially a CLASS swing top turned inside out.


Fushinuki: "I usually wear a swing top, so it doesn't feel strange."

Ishibashi : "This garment was born from the idea of turning a swing top inside out, but because it uses a high-quality fabric typically used for dresses, it has a dressy feel."

Fushinuki : "Wearing this will instantly elevate your style!"


Ishibashi : "You can wear it in three ways: with the design turned inside out, with the liner removed, or with the right side facing out."

Fushinuki: "That's truly playful!"

Tashiro's request was for clothes filled with "playful details that are hard to understand"!

Tashiro, a fan of cantate , requested an item that was "playing around behind the scenes." Ishibashi chose cantate 's first down blouson.


Ishibashi: " cantate 's first down jacket uses leather—Entrefino leather—for the outer shell."

Tashiro: "Normally, down jackets use functional materials for the outer fabric, but this one has a real presence."

Ishibashi: "The design is simple, but the quality of the leather gives it an impactful finish."


Another item I recommend is a seemingly ordinary coat. "It's made using a reversible construction where two pieces of fabric are split and woven together, so it's lightweight and offers a comfortable, streamlined fit," says Ishibashi.

Tashiro tries it on and says, "This is exactly the kind of coat that's playful in the background, and you can create a casual, unexpected look with it."

Ishibashi: "While reverse stitching is common, this coat from cantate is entirely hand-stitched, so the feel is different."
