Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building Proposals that look ahead to the present and the future as it celebrates its 20th anniversary.
"For this season's dress clothing, we've set two keywords: 'classic' and 'remix.' This is also the main theme for the 5th floor, which we've carried over from spring/summer, but this season we've focused on authentic and high-quality items, further editing and styling them to create a more three-dimensional structure."While taking into account the trends of spring and summer, the collection thoroughly covers the mainstream of men's clothing, offering a selection that embodies the essence of luxury. Inaba's proposal is to remix this with mainstream classic styles from Italy, England, France, and other countries.
"Classic doesn't mean 'traditional,' but rather 'the pinnacle,' as in 'class' or 'high-class.' For example, providing authentic items like suits, jackets, and coats in the finest materials is ISETAN MEN'S mission, and we stock only top-quality products. We also want to convey the message of proposing these items with new styling and fittings. It's not about mixing, but remixing. Rather than simply suggesting combinations, we intentionally reconstruct them to transmit men's styles that look ahead to the present and the future."
Inaba, a well-dressed woman in her 30s and an influencer who has been making waves on social media, has picked out some must-have items and brands for this fall.
Classic jacket and trousers become more comfortable.
First, regarding jackets, I checked out tailors from Southern Italy such as Stile Latino and Cesare Attolini .
Inheriting the Neapolitan tailoring tradition, which exudes a cheerful, lighthearted, and masculine aura, this brand re-evaluates the comfort of handmade garments. Each piece in this collection is sewn by skilled tailors using meticulous tailoring techniques, making it the epitome of authenticity.
For example, while the tweed-like texture of the check pattern has a British feel in terms of color and design, if it were made from British wool, it would be much stiffer and heavier. This has been evolved into a lightweight, luxurious cashmere blend material. The shoulders are light, and the waist has a slightly relaxed, medium fit. The lapels are slightly wider, but not exaggerated, resulting in a well-balanced finish. Anyone who tries it on will immediately feel the difference.
Our trousers feature signature styles from renowned tailors and craftsmen with experience at top brands, such as Massimo Corrado and Fumiya Hirano The Trousers . The silhouettes are modern with a slightly relaxed fit, yet not too wide, and are moderately straight. Many customers appreciate the classic charm of details such as hakama tucks and V-slits, which are becoming less common in ready-made trousers these days, crafted using sartorial techniques.
Massimo Corrado was formerly in charge of the trousers division of a famous brand, and since going independent, he has been running factories for renowned luxury brands. Starting this autumn/winter season, he has launched his own original brand, which will be available first at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building . Initially, a special order model with two pleats has been prepared. Both models feature meticulous construction around the waist and flattening of the hips, and have been adapted to suit the Japanese physique.
Fumiya Hirano The Trousers is a ready-to-wear line supervised by Fumiya Hirano, a highly skilled cutter who previously worked at the prestigious Henry Poole on Savile Row. Since returning to Japan two years ago and opening his own tailor shop in Azabu, he has continued to receive support from customers all over the world.
A high-quality jacket from a French brand that expands your styling options.
This season, jackets and outerwear in a wide variety of styles, not just tailored ones, are attracting attention. At Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building we wanted to broaden our styling options, so we focused on selecting brands from France and the UK, brands that are moving away from Italian styles. So this time, we'll introduce two jackets from French brands.HUSBANDS is a brand founded in Paris in 2012 by lawyer Nicolas Gabard. Drawing inspiration from various cultures and films of different eras, the brand's collections portray an intelligent and sophisticated image of masculinity. This zip-up blouson features a unique design inspired by riding coats.
The 11cm long-point collar and short silhouette would look great paired with modern, high-waisted trousers. The material is a tightly woven wool twill with a firm texture, and we also offer a baby lambskin model in addition to the various color options.
Another brand is LUTAYS , a young brand that was established in 2019. They design their clothing based on French military and uniform workwear, and are committed to tailoring their garments within France.
The corduroy stand-collar jacket "Tyrrell" is inspired by the uniform of Guillaume Tyrrell, a renowned chef who served French nobility. Stripped of unnecessary embellishments, the waist pockets feature welts rather than flaps. It also boasts three inner pockets and a relaxed fit, making it ideal for wearing as a light jacket.
A mid-gauge colored knit that works well as both an inner and outer layer.
Chunky knit patterns have been popular since last year. In particular, cashmere cable knits are our most emphasized item in our lineup, and we have a large selection of exclusive models that can only be purchased at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building .
BATONER is the original brand of Okuyama Meriyasu in Yamagata. It's a knitwear brand whose signature is rib knitting, and it's a long-selling model at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building .
This time, we commissioned a special model using rare baby cashmere, of which only about 10g can be harvested from a single animal. Normally, due to the characteristics of the knitting method, rib knitting results in a strong, firm texture with good elasticity, but using baby cashmere resulted in a remarkably soft and supple feel. Even those who have been loyal fans of BATONER knitwear will likely be surprised by this level of comfort.
Let me introduce another Japanese knitwear brand , PICEA . Although PICEA is a Japanese brand, it has a factory in Inner Mongolia and is a rare brand that handles all aspects of production, from wool preparation and spinning to dyeing and knitting.
This collection also focuses on baby cashmere, resulting in a substantial and weighty cable knit sweater. This particular piece is a men's version of the brand's women's cable knit sweater. The delicate cable pattern, knitted with fine baby cashmere, creates a truly luxurious feel. It's available in only two colors, black and gray, but a turtleneck version is also available.
Finally, let me introduce an imported knitwear brand. BEGG&CO is a long-established manufacturer founded in Scotland in 1866. A few years ago, they acquired a renowned knitwear factory, which allowed them to focus more on knitwear. The cashmere knitwear they released last year, featuring a unique cable pattern, became a hot topic and was well-received at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building .
Incidentally, the yarn is cashmere yarn from Todd & Duncan, a highly trusted spinning manufacturer whose yarn is also used in knitwear favored by the British Royal Family. This year, we will be offering this knitwear again in vivid, custom-ordered colors: red, green, and royal blue.
The silhouette and contrasting knitwear create a trendy look.
While many authentic items are presented in dark tones overall, Inaba points out that the key to expressing the essence of this season is to use knitwear as an accent color and to incorporate trendy elements into the silhouette and fitting.
"By combining tastes from various countries, we've incorporated a modern, relaxed feel into our sizing and fitting. While more and more young people are embracing classic styles, we're skillfully mixing and incorporating various styles. Even those who have long loved traditional classic styles will notice a clear change in their fitting."
The wide-leg pants trend is still fresh in our memories. More recently, next-generation classic styles are spreading, such as slightly dropped shoulders and boxy tailored jackets without a defined waist, and Inaba's own styling is a perfect example of this. Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building 5th floor also offers such styling suggestions.
"I'm now able to travel abroad again, and in June I even attended Pitti Uomo in Florence. What I realized there was that while it's natural for clothes to look good on well-built foreigners, Japanese people are undeniably more stylish in how they wear them. I also want to increase opportunities for younger generations to experience true luxury. In the fall, we're planning a Craftsman's Festa inviting tailors from Japan and abroad, as well as an event featuring brands that exhibit at Pitti. I want Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building to be a hub, providing a place where many customers can experience the excellence of tailored clothing."
