[Special Feature] Do men also need care for their intimate areas? Two experts answer! "What is omnia care?"
If you're interested in beauty, mind, and body, you've probably heard the term "Femcare." Femcare is a portmanteau of "Feminine" and "Care," and refers to products and services that care for women's bodies and health. While "Femcare/Femtech" generally focuses on intimate area care and support for women's specific health concerns, did you know that there's also "HOMME CARE," which focuses on men's bodies and health?
This article focuses on intimate area care, a common concern for men as well. We interviewed two experts to hear their perspectives.

After serving as an associate professor in the Department of Urology at Osaka University School of Medicine, he became a professor in the Department of Urology at Juntendo University Urayasu Hospital. He has particularly focused on reproductive medicine and the treatment of sexual dysfunction, and has helped many couples struggling with infertility.

Born in Kyoto Prefecture in 1964. After graduating from university, she joined a department store. After working in planning and other roles, she became independent. Men often have sensitive issues related to their intimate areas that they can't easily discuss with others. What's the reality?
—What part of a man's body is referred to as his "intimate zone"?
Dr. Tsujimura: The genital area where the male reproductive organs are located is called the delicate zone. It is also called the groin or genitals, and if you experience any problems such as pain, swelling, or itching in the delicate zone, please consult a urologist. Recently, I have noticed that men are becoming more interested in concerns about their delicate zone.
—Are there actually many men who have problems with odor, dampness, itchiness, etc., in their intimate areas?
Dr. Tsujimura: Women experience various physical changes and problems due to hormonal changes caused by age and menstruation, and many suffer from odor, dampness, itching, and discharge in their intimate areas. However, men can prevent the growth and proliferation of odor-causing bacteria by bathing daily and washing properly to maintain cleanliness. However, wearing unclean underwear, experiencing itching due to stress or irregular lifestyles, and especially during the hot summer months, we see an increase in men visiting urologists with problems related to odor and itching caused by dampness.
Also, from the perspective of "omnae care," there is an increasing number of men who visit clinics for "bridal checks" before marriage to find out if they are capable of having children. Bridal checks for men include sperm tests at the urology department to check sperm count, sperm motility, and morphology, as well as blood tests to check for sexually transmitted infections and rubella antibodies.
Takakura: Our delicate zone care brand, Pubicare organic, is widely available at VIO hair removal salons, and recently we've been hearing more and more about the increase in male customers and men-only salons. Using hair removal salons increases opportunities to address the delicate zone, and I think interest in "omcare" will continue to grow.
Takakura: I feel that there has been a real increase in the number of people, especially young men, who are highly conscious of improving their QOL (Quality of Life) and are making efforts to do so. I think they are paying attention to "omcare" just as they do to their lifestyle, fashion, hair care, and skincare.
What specific things should I do to care for my intimate area?
--As we head into summer, what can we do to prevent discomfort in the intimate area? Also, can reviewing our lifestyle habits help keep the intimate area comfortable?Dr. Tsujimura: Daily care for men's intimate areas includes keeping the intimate area clean, maintaining the scrotum, located below the penis, at a temperature of around 33 degrees Celsius, which is lower than the body temperature of 36 degrees Celsius, and taking supplements, minerals, and vitamins that are good for your health.
To keep your intimate area clean and reduce the risk of infection, it's a good idea to use specialized washing products. Also, choose underwear made of breathable materials and loose-fitting pants rather than those that trap heat. Wearing loose-fitting underwear like trunks is recommended over bikinis.
Takakura: Our company has consistently created products based on the theme of "daily care for delicate areas with natural and organic products." We believe that if you can replace your daily care with natural and organic products to prevent discomfort in the delicate area, it will be a good way to care for your body.
Dr. Tsujimura: Not just for the delicate zone, but for daily care in general, reviewing lifestyle habits such as "avoiding obesity," "eating as little junk food as possible," "getting 7 to 7.5 hours of sleep," and "getting moderate exercise" also contributes to "om-care." If you make an effort to maintain a normal, regular lifestyle and manage your physical condition, it will not only alleviate discomfort in the delicate zone but also contribute to maintaining your health in the future.
Two experts have taught us about the importance of men's intimate area care, but many of you may be hearing the term "omcare" for the first time. Why not start with something easy as a step towards a more comfortable lifestyle, using intimate area care as a starting point?
