The staff at Isetan Men's possess a keen aesthetic sense. This new series will introduce their favorite items and items they currently desire. For the first installment, themed "My Top 4 Items for This Summer," they have selected four items each from fashion, cosmetics, and accessories, each with their own unique perspective. In the first part, two staff members share their thoughts and stories about each item.

Matsuoka: "My top 4 picks for this summer"

A stylish shirt to wear in summer

"I own several pieces of LEMAIRE clothing. When I reflected on why I like it, I realized I'm drawn to the sophisticated atmosphere that emanates from its soft, nuanced colors and beautiful cuts. My problem in the summer is that my styling tends to look weak. Somehow, just wearing a T-shirt makes me look dull... That's why I often wear shirts even in the summer. Joe Odagiri's summer styling in the movie 'Maison de Himiko' is my best of the best. It's a simple shirt and slacks, but somehow he looks beautiful. That style is always somewhere in the back of my mind, so this summer too, I find myself reaching for elegant shirts."

Leather shoes that suit my current mood

"Lately, I've been in the mood to wear leather shoes. These are the #501 model, which I bought from JM WESTON 's "Weston Vintage" project, which passes on finished shoes to a new generation. I chose the unusual green color. Black would be too heavy, so green is perfect for adding a touch of lightness to my look. The split toe gives it a solid look, but the volume of the sole and the instep are just right, making it versatile enough to wear with everything from dressy to casual styles. It's an unusual model and color, but the price was about half of the retail price. What's more, the sole repair, which usually costs over 30,000 yen, had already been done, which was a great bonus, making this a pair I'm really glad I bought."

Pajamas to upgrade your time spent at home

"When it comes to my at-home style, in the summer it's just t-shirts and shorts, and in the winter it's sweatpants, nothing that really lifts my spirits... I was looking for something that would make me feel better while I'm at home, so I checked out the Danish fabric brand Tekla online. I ended up buying a whole new set of Tekla items because I was moving, so I took the opportunity to buy some pajamas for myself as well. I chose the royal blue color, which caught my eye with its clean impression online. The smooth texture of the cotton poplin and the elegant coloring combine to make me feel like my time at home has been upgraded. Next, I'm planning on getting some nice slippers."

Sunscreen that can be applied without getting your hands dirty

"Every year around this time, my problem is that only the back of my neck gets really tanned. However, I really hate the sticky feeling on my hands after applying sunscreen, so I've always avoided sun protection. Now that I'm approaching my 30s, I was thinking about starting some self-care, and that's when I came across this stick-type sunscreen from SHISEIDO MEN . I love that I can twist it with one hand to dispense it and apply it directly to my skin without getting my hands dirty. Collaboration T-shirt with director Larry Clark

"I love Bot not only for its amazing designs and high quality, but also for the personalities of the designers and members, and I wear their clothes often. I was surprised that they collaborated with director Larry Clark, who has a strong following in the streetwear scene, even though the brand is still relatively new. The T-shirt is an amazing item, with a scene from the 1995 film 'KIDS' printed on the front and the director's autograph printed on the back. I bought all three types and plan to wear them all this summer!"

A cardigan that adds a touch of elegance to your outfit.

"I used to like wearing clothes in a loose style, but recently that feeling has subsided, and I've started wearing clothes that fit just right more often. Now that I'm older, I was looking for a clean, comfortable item that would go well with anything, and that I came across this piece from SUNSPEL . It's a finely knitted, high-gauge cardigan with a smooth texture and soft feel. Even someone like me can wear it elegantly, so it's become a very useful item for me (laughs)."

Shoelace stoppers that add a unique touch to your footwear.

"When I was around 20 years old, I was reading a magazine and saw a picture of someone with worn-out Vans Authentics with Chrome Hearts shoelace stoppers. It looked really cool, but they weren't being sold at any of the major stores in Japan anymore... Almost 10 years later, I happened to find a single pair in a vintage clothing store, so I bought them immediately! I put them on the part closest to the toe of my Converse All-Stars, which I wear every day. I think they're meant to get dirty, so I wear them a lot, even on rainy days, and they're starting to rust and look really good."

A blouson with a focus on a solid design.

"I've always been interested in tech and shell wear, but they're either too mainstream or too common, so I couldn't find anything that was just right for me... The other day, when we held a pop-up event for the four-member DJ/producer group 'SoundSports' on the 6th floor of Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building I learned that one of the members, photographer Ryota Ishii, was shooting the visuals for Veilance. I read his web interview and thought it was really cool, so I was influenced by it and now I really want one! The simple design with no embellishments or logos is perfect for my current mood. It's perfect for the rainy season and early autumn, so I highly recommend it."
