HARROGATE is a new brand launched by Mr. Matsuda, who has worked as a shoe last craftsman for numerous popular leather shoe brands. With its high fashion appeal and surprisingly good value, it is already generating buzz among discerning industry professionals.

Production takes place at an Indian shoe factory that Mr. Matsuda was captivated by. He visited the factory, where skilled Indian craftsmen, who had received ample training in England, the birthplace of the Goodyear welt construction method, skillfully make shoes using this robust and reliable technique, and decided to produce his shoes there.

After seeing the first sample and being impressed by its high level of perfection, he launched his own brand in the Spring/Summer 2021 season, starting with distribution primarily through select shops. It quickly became a hot topic among shoe enthusiasts.

The full leather upper is made from high-quality suede from French calfskin or Charles F. Stead of England, while the outsole uses Dainite soles from Harboro Rubber of England. Attention to detail extends even to unseen parts, with the use of molded cork for the filling and wooden shanks for the insoles, demonstrating an uncompromising commitment to craftsmanship by selecting materials suitable for the Goodyear welted construction method.

Many people are surprised by the price, which is in the low 30,000 yen range, when they experience the robust Goodyear welt construction, the trendy, moderately voluminous silhouette, and the three-dimensional last that cradles the foot.
