Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building 7th Floor, Men's Authentic, will be launching its "Outdoor Collection" from November 10th (Wednesday), showcasing a wide range of items, from classic favorites to this season's must-have outdoor collection.

WOOLRICH Brand History

WOOLRICH 's history began in 1830 when John Rich II established America's first woolen mill in northern Pennsylvania. In 1850, the "Buffalo Check" pattern was introduced, named after the designer's herd of buffalo. Then, in 1972, the "Arctic Parka" was created, designed and manufactured as cold-weather clothing for pipeline construction workers in Alaska.


With a history spanning over 190 years, WOOLRICH has embraced diverse values and embraced different eras. Every product is characterized by a contrast between a refined aesthetic and rugged details, and has grown alongside American history.

Starting with the Fall/Winter 2021 season, the brand unified its two lines, the "Main Collection" and the "Outdoor Collection," under the classic brand logo, symbolizing a "Re-connection" to the brand's identity.

NEW ARCTIC PARKA

The undisputed epitome of down jackets. This is the "New Arctic Parka," the most iconic model, an updated version of the Arctic Parka that was born in the 1970s, adapted for modern times. The outer fabric is a cotton-nylon blend, commonly known as 60/40 cloth, which has an analog feel and functionality reminiscent of the original, and is treated with Teflon. You can enjoy the aging process that is unique to cotton-based materials as you wear it repeatedly.



NEW ARCTIC PARKA NF

The fur-free version of the New Arctic Parka features a high neckline and down packs around the neck. Until two years ago, it was available in global sizes, but it has now been adapted to a Japan fit, resulting in a more compact fit and a slightly shorter length, making it suitable for urban use, such as wearing it over a jacket.



GTX NEW ARCTIC PARKA

As the name suggests, this is the ultimate classic model, featuring a GORE-TEX outer shell and a completely waterproof design, the so-called "black tag GORE-TEX."


Compared to the New Arctic Parka, it's lighter and more comfortable, and the buttons have been changed to black, giving it an overall sharp and solid look. It was just released last year and is one of the most talked-about models of 2021.


ARCTIC PARKA TT

The Tone-on-Tone model, which debuted in 2019, is a direct-operated store exclusive. It's what's known as a "glossy Arctic Parka." It was discontinued in 2020, but has been revived by ordering it from the manufacturer in the US, exclusively for direct-operated stores in Japan.


The long-haired, black-dyed raccoon fur, which matches the tone-on-tone of the outer shell, creates a luxurious impression. This is the only global fit in this Arctic Parka series.

2) The "Buffalo Check Shirt," a pattern loved for over 100 years, is moving to the next stage.

WOOLRICH 's iconic buffalo check pattern has been revived in 100% cotton to suit the Japanese climate. It uses an original fabric developed by Woolrich Japan, which creates a unique fullness by twisting three strands of yarn instead of the usual two. The reverse side is brushed using a machine used for cashmere, resulting in a softness that is unexpected for 100% cotton.


The buttons are also original designs, reproducing the rimmed, two-hole, round type used around the 1950s.

3) A corduroy shirt jacket that becomes more comfortable the more you wear it.

This popular item is from the "AUTHENTIC line," a Japanese design inspired by classic American style. Made from slightly thick 8-wale corduroy, it features a simple design based on an American open-collar shirt, with waist pockets added and cuffs removed.


The inner pockets offer increased storage capacity, and the chest pocket features a sunglasses strap, a signature element of the line.

4) A herringbone jacket that offers a vintage feel.

This is also a work jacket from the Japanese-designed "AUTHENTIC line," using wool herringbone fabric produced before the closure of the American Woolrich Mill. The fabric is overdyed at the manufacturing stage, giving it an attractive, deep color.


Based on an American sack jacket with three buttons and three patch pockets, this style suits anyone.

This season's must-have! Outdoor Collection

Launched in 2018, "WOOLRICH OUTDOOR" inherits WOOLRICH 's American DNA while incorporating the latest technical fabrics and functions suitable for modern outdoor scenes, proposing an intelligent and sophisticated outdoor style or chic sports style for everyday life.


This recycled down parka utilizes "PERTEX DIAMOND FUSE," which features a unique diamond-shaped thread cross-section. It incorporates the brand's iconic inverted V-shaped chevron quilt stitching, inspired by military rank insignia, and features minimally placed pockets with some color variations. A large mesh pocket on the inside allows for quick access to items like caps and gloves, making it ideal for outdoor use.



This high-loft pile jacket, made from a wool blend, looks incredibly warm. The classic long-pile fabric is enhanced with wool for increased warmth and moisture absorption, and with polyester for breathability and lightness. Acrylic is added for extra softness. The shoulders, elbows, and pocket flaps, areas prone to wear, are reinforced with nylon taffeta, and the jacket has a relaxed fit.



This 7-gauge intarsia knit sweater is a blend of merino wool and recycled polyester. Featuring an archival sheep print design, it has a mock neck style reminiscent of a ski knit. Available in two colorways, navy and gray, it's a perfect piece to wear under a down jacket.

How to care for down

For daily care, brush off any dust when you return home, and if it rains or you sweat, dry it immediately after returning home. Avoid storing it while wet, and we recommend having it professionally cleaned once the wearing season is over. Storing the garment with sweat or sebum remaining on it can cause mold, odor, stains, and insect damage.

When storing your garments during the off-season after dry cleaning, ensure they are completely dry, store them in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and fluorescent lights which can cause discoloration, and use hangers that are the appropriate size for the garment to prevent it from losing its shape.

Storing clothes for extended periods in plastic bags provided by dry cleaners can cause discoloration due to chemical reactions between the plastic bags and nitrogen oxides (NOx) gases emitted from exhaust fumes or kerosene heaters. Therefore, we recommend using commercially available, breathable clothing storage bags.
