Fuji Toyo Barbershop in Yoyogi-Uehara is a barbershop that evokes the atmosphere of a pre-war era. The owner, Takahiro Abe, who is well-versed in vintage fashion, has produced shirts in collaboration with ISETAN MEN'S . From September 15th (Wed) to September 21st (Tue), orders will be accepted at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building 1F, Order Shirts, for two types of shirts inspired by shirts from the early Showa period that Mr. Abe himself owns.

What kind of collaboration shirt was inspired by the "early Showa era"?

Mr. Abe, a barber with a classic atmosphere that reflects his personal taste, has many clients as a barber. At the same time, he is also a vintage fashion collector, and through his social media presence, he has gained many fans who appreciate his sense of style.

In this collaboration between Mr. Abe and Isetan Men's, two models were created, inspired by one of his favorite collections from the early Showa period (1939-1946): "Japanese-made linen shirts."

During the event, in addition to four types of cotton fabrics carefully selected by Mr. Abe, the store will also offer a selection of custom shirt fabrics available at Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building 1st floor, where customers can have a shirt tailored to their specifications based on their measurements.

The design comes in two models: "traditional placket" and "external placket." The "traditional placket" was a common style until the early Showa period, but it is now a rare and authentic style even among the many high-end shirts available. On the other hand, the "external placket" is a 1930s American style shirt with six buttons (seven buttons are the mainstream for modern shirts).

Each piece features details that are characteristic of the pre-war era, such as the regular collar style commonly seen before the war, the chest pocket known as "kabura-ori" (a type of folded pocket used at the time), the cuffs, and the triple-folded pleats on the back yoke. These details, which can only be achieved through bespoke tailoring, are what make them so appealing.
Furthermore, Mr. Abe will be visiting the store on Sunday, September 19th. He will be offering personalized suggestions to each customer.
