Limited edition fabrics selected from the country of origin will also be available! Camiceria Lombardi Order Fair held at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store
Camiceria Lombardi, a company founded in Naples, Italy in the 19th century and established itself as the exclusive shirtmaker for royalty, will be holding an order fair at the Personal Order Salon on the 2nd floor of the main building of Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store from August 18th (Wed) to August 31st (Tue).
This special two-week event will showcase approximately 20 types of exceptional fabrics, including soft cashmere and smooth fabrics made from ultra-fine cotton, all carefully selected from the brand's home country.
Camiceria Lombardi is Italy's oldest shirt manufacturer, founded in 1892. Initially, it specialized in bespoke shirts, catering to executives living on Via Chiaia. This reputation grew, and they began receiving orders for shirts from royalty and nobility. The measurement data from that time is still kept at their Naples store.
Now boasting customers worldwide, the company receives more orders from abroad, including Japan, the United States, and Russia, than from Italy, and has many fans among lawyers, doctors, and business executives in the political and financial worlds.
This brand places the utmost importance on shirt fitting, believing that even if a shirt is hand-stitched, it's meaningless if the fit isn't right. Therefore, a key feature of their shirts is the "basted fitting" process, which many shirt manufacturers don't do. By conducting two measurements and fittings, including the basted fitting, they achieve a superior, skin-like fit.
Camiceria Lombardi shirts are made using traditional Neapolitan methods. For example, the gathered sleeves (manica camicia) are one of these traditional techniques. Manica camicia means "shirt sleeve" in Italian. It is a characteristic of Neapolitan tailoring and is a technique used for shirts and jackets.
By easing the fabric while attaching the sleeves and yoke, the garment achieves both decorative beauty and a three-dimensional, comfortable fit.
All work is done through a division of labor system, with craftsmen possessing specialized skills for each part, who carefully create shirts while upholding Neapolitan traditions.
