Ballantine's 17 Year Old Tribute Release (700ml) ¥11,000 □Available at: Isetan Shinjuku Main Building B1F Grand Cave, Mitsukoshi Isetan Online Store
The streets are becoming more festive in preparation for Christmas, but this year, the time spent with loved ones and friends during the holiday season will feel even more precious than usual.
As a reward for a year of hard work, we recommend Ballantine's 17 Year Old Tribute Release (hereinafter referred to as "Tribute Release"), which offers a fruity aroma reminiscent of ripe fruit, sweetness of honey and chocolate, and a long finish.
Enjoy this luxurious 48% alcohol content on the rocks or in a highball.
Since its creation in 1937, Ballantine's 17 Year Old has the longest history of any Scotch whisky, boasting a 17-year history and earning the title of "The Scotch" for its high quality. This tribute release is a special product developed exclusively for Japan by the 5th Master Blender, Sandy Hyslop, as "a Ballantine's 17 Year Old that we want to deliver to Japan in a new era." The packaging has been redesigned with a red emblem and label reminiscent of the original 1937 product, and the gift box further enhances its luxurious feel.
If you're enjoying it at home, start with it on the rocks. Pour hard, slow-melting ice into a wide-mouthed, straight, cylindrical whiskey glass, and slowly pour in the Tribute Release. The beautiful amber color will delight your eyes, and a rich aroma will rise from it.
For a meal, try the popular highball. Fill a tall glass (tumbler) with hard, slow-melting ice, pour in the Tribute Release, stir well with a stirrer to chill the glass, and add more ice as it melts. Pour in 3-4 parts chilled soda water for every 1 part Tribute Release, stir gently, and enjoy. The refreshing taste of the soda and the aroma of the Tribute Release are further enhanced.
What is the blend of this tribute release, developed specifically for the Japanese market, and what does it taste like?
The Tribute Release uses a non-chill filtered process, which does not involve chill filtration, to bring out the luxurious and rich flavor of the original spirit, and the alcohol content is adjusted to a rich 48%. While Ballantine's 17 Year Old usually uses American oak casks that have been used two to three times for maturation, the Tribute Release is characterized by the use of first-fill American oak casks and European oak casks that have only been used once.
Inheriting a blending style that emphasizes the harmony of diverse spirits, Sandy Hyslop's blending process allows each key malt to resonate, resulting in a complex aroma and flavor that will satisfy the discerning palates of Japanese consumers. This new Ballantine's 17 Year Old embodies passionate dedication and commitment to quality.
With its golden amber color, balanced fruity aroma reminiscent of ripe peaches and oranges, and a sweetness like honey and a luxurious taste like white chocolate, this perfectly balanced tribute release offers a sweet and long-lasting finish perfect for long winter nights.
