This year is the perfect time to update your lifestyle.

Ms. Kato seems to be aware of the connection between her mind and body, and has made it a habit to care for both in her daily life. We asked her what else she does.

"I quit the gym in the spring, so lately I've been exercising at home every day while watching YouTube. That said, I'm the type of person who can't stick with it if I get too enthusiastic, so it's only about 5 to 10 minutes a day (laughs). What I've particularly noticed is the effect of back stretching! Apparently, it's good to loosen up the area around the spine. It's also a good way to switch gears mentally, so I recommend it before work. Also... I've changed the timing of my meals. I fast for 14 hours a day. Before, I would just eat whenever I thought, 'Oh, it's lunchtime,' but now I only eat when I'm actually hungry, so I've become more conscious of the quality of my food."

"This is the kind of adult I want to become." Looking ahead, I choose what I need.

"As I get older, I feel like my sense of style is more about 'what I don't choose' than 'what I do choose.' There are so many cute and high-quality things out there. But if I only chose things because they were cute, I'd end up with too many possessions. To avoid that, I make it a point to have an ideal of 'the kind of adult I want to become.' Having a core set of values allows me to choose things that are appropriate for the person I want to be, and my choices become more consistent."

She enjoys taking the time to truly understand what makes her feel comfortable and to organize her life accordingly. It is precisely because Ms. Kato consciously creates an environment where she can be herself that the aura surrounding her is so fresh and clear.
