2020.04.01 update

Not limited to tailored styles, these versatile suit sets are also available.

Originally conceived by Japanese suit manufacturers, functional suits made from washable, water-repellent, and stretchable synthetic fibers that are packable and wrinkle-resistant are now gaining traction among international brands. This trend is likely driven by an increase in companies in Japan encouraging no-tie dress codes and the global trend towards more casual business attire. What was once considered a Japanese specialty, the "functional suit," is now recognized as a new category even in Italy, the home of the suit.

TAGLIATORE has released a suit set featuring the "DAKAR" trousers, which are tailored without interlining, and easy-to-wear trousers with a shirred waist, both made from the same polyester fabric. As a brand that has long been renowned for its innovative suiting, the combination of this suit and easy-to-wear trousers is a perfect match.

Traiano is a brand with a background in sports fabric manufacturing. Their original jersey material is moisture-wicking, quick-drying, and washable, and features a wool-like appearance achieved by inkjet printing onto the fabric's surface. This allows for easy coordination with existing broadcloth dress shirts and silk ties.

From the popular utility brand Monobi comes a casual-looking suit set. This set includes not only tailored jackets, but also a wide range of options that can be enjoyed as a set with blousons and shirts.

Another item worth noting is the travel suit that ISETAN MEN'S commissioned Gabriele Pasini to create from scratch, including the pattern. The jacket, with Pasini's signature wide lapels, employs a lightweight, unstructured construction with minimal interlining, a feature not seen in previous collections. It's a packable type that can be folded compactly, and the included special bag has a camouflage pattern, while the waist belt of the trousers features a skull design—a playful touch typical of the brand.

With popular brands entering the rapidly growing market of easy suits, this category is expected to continue its growth. ISETAN MEN'S will continue to closely monitor the movements of each brand, as these movements will serve as a guide for the future of the suit market.
