This wouldn't be possible with real climbing-style outdoor boots.

The combination of a Barbour Bedale jacket and Engineered Garments cargo pants exudes masculinity, thanks in part to the synergistic effect of two brands that respect each other. Adding oiled leather side-gore boots completes the look, giving it a rugged, "gear" feel.

It's understandable that the voluminous BLUNDSTONE boots would suit a wide silhouette and heavy material outfit, but the fact that they didn't choose real work boots is an urban element. Pairing them with the sporty feel of sneakers, climbing boots, or engineer boots would lack a sense of mature sophistication. It's the "relaxation" of the side-gore boots that gives the wild style "refinement" and "intelligence." Yes, what was needed was a boot for the intellectual, affluent class living in the city.

The kaptainsunshine varsity jacket has a relaxed silhouette, and paired with a comm. arch. mohair knit, it creates a casually relaxed look. The pants are by ENGINEERED GARMENTS. The combination of easy pants with a drawstring made from homemade tweed adds a modern street style feel.

I paired the outfit with Blundstone low-cut boots. To support the weighty feel of the tweed bottoms, I needed voluminous shoes, but sneakers would have looked too sporty and wouldn't have complemented the varsity jacket top. So, I opted for side-gore boots to create a more streamlined look, allowing the top to stand out while maintaining a solid, robust image at the feet.

Blundstone has combined wintery materials like Melton wool, leather, and tweed, and added suede to the mix. To wear something with this much weight, the technique is to add white accents. Fortunately, the blouson's collar and sleeves have white accents, but you could also let a white T-shirt peek out from under the crew neck knit or leave the hem of a white shirt untucked.
