Isetan Mitsukoshi and REDA, one of Italy's leading fabric manufacturers, have revived a classic melange fabric in REDA's highest quality. From November 13th (Wed) to 26th (Tue), a special event is being held on the 5th floor Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building , where various items using this fabric will be showcased, and visitors can also enjoy AR (augmented reality) videos related to REDA.


Founded in Biella, Italy in 1865, REDA is a long-established manufacturer that, unusually for today, handles everything from raw wool procurement to finishing in-house. It has also attracted attention in the field of high-tech fabrics such as "REDA ACTIVE." Known for its early commitment to modernization, the company was spurred to modernization after suffering devastating damage from a great flood in 1968. Coincidentally, the "Men's New Building," the predecessor of Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building also opened in the same year.

Reflecting on 1968, a year that can be considered special for both companies, this time they are focusing on vintage fabrics with the beautiful melange texture of the 1960s. The limited edition fabric, woven with "REDA Maillol," a quality fabric using raw wool from REDA's masterpiece Super 150's, is characterized by its high quality and supple feel. Moreover, it is also appealing for its durability and resistance to losing its shape, a testament to the meticulous craftsmanship characteristic of long-established brands.

This time, 18 brands will be featured, offering ready-to-wear suits and sets, as well as made-to-measure garments, using a fabric available in 12 colors that combines a soft sheen with a rich melange texture. Special items made from this fabric, based on each brand's signature models and best-selling items, will be available exclusively at Mitsukoshi Isetan.

Furthermore, during the event, AR (augmented reality) videos will be available at 10 locations on the 5th floor of Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building allowing you to enjoy the world of "REDA." With your smartphone in hand, you can explore the floor and learn about the secrets behind "REDA" fabrics and the thoughts of the creators.
