Are you truly satisfied with the winter outerwear you choose for business, formal parties, and other winter dress styles? Are you perhaps using the excuse of a "mismatch" to justify pairing a suit with an outdoor brand down jacket, or shivering in a flimsy coat with just a thin liner, telling yourself it's "the beauty of stubbornness"?

For formal or classic occasions where you wear a suit, a tailored coat is the standard winter outerwear choice, but while it's a classic, its warmth is only moderate. For more functional and reliable cold-weather outerwear, down or other padded coats are an option, but those from outdoor or sports brands are often over-engineered or too casual, making them frankly unsuitable for dressy occasions.

However, down jackets, developed for protection against the cold in polar regions, are a bit overkill for urban wear. The voluminous silhouette of the down, which traps plenty of air, and the bright colors designed for emergencies don't suit traditional men's clothing.
