From Wednesday, October 2nd to Tuesday, October 15th, the "ART UP" gallery space on the 2nd floor of Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building will host "Carton Stand Isetan," a pop-up event by cardboard artist Fuyuki Shimazu.

Fuyuki Shimazu is an artist who creates wallets using cardboard collected from around the world, based on the concept of "transforming unnecessary things into precious things," under the name "Carton."

In December 2018, Shimazu released the documentary film "Traveling Cardboard" (directed by Ryusuke Okajima, distributed by Pictures Dept.), which followed him personally, and published the essay "Cardboard is a Treasure: Accidental Upcycling" (Kashiwa Shobo). He has also been engaged in various activities to convey the appeal of cardboard, including workshops around the world.


This event will feature an exclusively at Isetan Shinjuku Store of Shimazu's uniquely designed cardboard wallets, as well as the first-ever display of his sacoche bags. On the four weekend days during the event, Shimazu will be present to host a workshop where participants can choose their favorite cardboard design and create their own wallet.

Cardboard boxes that were originally destined to be discarded as unnecessary items are given a new life through Mr. Shimazu, becoming unique and irreplaceable. This event allows you to experience the profound depth and many charms that can be seen in cardboard.
