From Wednesday, September 18th Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building 8th floor = Isetan Men's Residence will be hosting its first-ever pattern order event for "celluloid frame eyewear." This will be a special opportunity to order a pair of glasses tailored to your personal preferences.

While acetate is now the most common material for plastic frames, until the first half of the 20th century, most frames were made of celluloid. Although celluloid is hard and durable, it is difficult to process, requiring delicate techniques and a lot of time, so the number of celluloid makers and craftsmen decreased over time.
However, as exemplified by its unique color and beautiful luster, celluloid frames possess an appeal that other materials lack, and they have enjoyed enduring popularity to this day.

Sabae, Fukui Prefecture, is one of the world's leading eyewear production areas. There, you'll find craftsmen who continue to make celluloid frames to this day.
At this custom order event, local craftsmen will create custom celluloid frames tailored to each individual customer. During the event, store staff will carefully listen to customers' requests and accommodate not only frame shape and color combinations, but also customization of various parts such as nose pads and temples, so you can find your own "partner" that you will cherish even more.
The lustrous sheen and comfortable fit are the result of the meticulous craftsmanship of skilled artisans, who carefully create each pair one by one. We sincerely hope you will acquire one of these special glasses.
