Drake's was founded in 1977 by Michael Drake in Clerkenwell, London. Initially, the company mainly manufactured wool and cashmere scarves and mufflers, which quickly gained widespread acclaim, leading to production requests from renowned brands. By the mid-1980s, Drake's had also made a name for itself in necktie making, becoming recognized as one of the indispensable brands for British gentlemen. Furthermore, its unwavering commitment to in-house production of neckties has earned it high praise from gentlemen who appreciate domestically produced goods.

When Drake retired in 2010, Michael Hill, who had worked with him on product development for many years, inherited his philosophy and became creative director. The following year, the brand opened its first retail store at 3 Clifford Street.

Drake's signature ties are made from 50-ounce twill or grenadine fabric (a fabric woven with tightly twisted yarns, mainly cotton or silk). Their beautiful luster, combined with elegant patterns, continues to add a touch of luxury and sophistication to the V-zones of gentlemen around the world.
