Pilots who made the skies their main battlefield, bikers who pursued speed, and explorers who continued to challenge uncharted territories—they all favored waxed cotton jackets boasting high water repellency and breathability. The pioneer of this was Belstaff, founded in 1927 by Eli Belovich and his son-in-law, Harry Grossberg. In particular, the "Trialmaster," which established the image that "British-made motorcycle jackets are the standard," is a timeless masterpiece.

Belstaff Rider's Jacket ¥126,360 ■ Isetan Shinjuku Store, Men's Building 7th Floor = Authentic Casual

Originally designed for bike trial competitions held in Scotland, the "Trialmaster" was groundbreaking with its slim silhouette featuring a belt at the waist, and it's well known that it was loved by many movie stars and fashion icons.

2018 marked the 70th anniversary of that jacket's creation. A lightweight, updated version was released, featuring a resin coating instead of wax, a shorter length, and a drawstring at the waist. Meanwhile, the tartan lining conveys the same "British spirit" that has remained unchanged throughout its history.
